UPDATED CONTACT INFORMATION

If there have been any changes to your contact information, please contact the school office with the new information. This includes address, email, and phone numbers.

This is very important as we prepare for the new school year!

ILLNESS/MEDICATION

In the event that your child is sick, please do not send them to school. Your child must be free from fever for 24 hours before they may return.

It's allergy season!

If your student needs to take medication at school, the parent/guardian will need to transport the medication to the front office, along with a clinic form to be kept on file. Please do not send your student with the medication.

Grade Promotion

Should a student not earn promotion to the next grade, he or she may have the opportunity to attend summer school in-person during the summer of 2023 to learn the AKS standards not mastered during the school year.

It is strongly recommended that students and parents/guardians use the GCPS Parent Portal to access class grades and maintain passing grades in all courses. Registration form below.

Early Dismissal ends at 2:30pm. You must enter the carpool line to pick up your student(s) after this time. Please request an appointment to meet with a teacher or administrator after 3:30pm if needed.

Please check your accounts!

Please make sure to check your MyPaymentsPlus account for fees and balances that need your attention! All library, field trip, and lunch balances can be viewed under your account.

ATTENTION!

💲 May 17th is the last day students may charge a meal to their account. Students with a negative balance will not be able to purchase a school lunch, and will receive an alternate meal of granola bars, crackers, and water.
🥪 Lunch balances will rollover to the next year. Those ending the year with a negative balance will begin the next school year with the charges owed.
📖 Check your fees! Library fees will also rollover to the next year. To continue checking out books in the new school year, students must not have outstanding fees in their account.

Georgia Milestone Assessment (GMA) information

The Georgia Milestones is a comprehensive summative assessment program that measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills outlined in the content standards. It is designed to provide information about student achievement and readiness to move on to the next level of learning. While tests measure each individual student's mastery of the curriculum during the school year, they also help teachers and schools understand the impact COVID-19 has had on learning and identify what resources and support our students will need in the coming school year.

New Life Academy of Excellence will continue to administer the GMAs to students in grades 3 - 8 on the following days:

May 1:

Math (Section 1 & 2) for 3rd
Math (Section 1 & 2) for 4th
Math (Section 1 & 2) for 5th

May 2:

Science (Section 1 & 2) for 8th

May 3:

Social Studies (Section 1 & 2) for 8th

May 4:

Science (Section 1 & 2) for 5th

TEACHER AND STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK IS MAY 8 - 12

Every day has a theme, and you can participate as many days as you like, or feel free to bring something of your choice.

Participation is optional.

Check out the list of our staff’s favorite things below!

Daily Themes:

Monday, May 8: "Take Note! You’re Awesome!” (Write a note or draw a picture to thank your teacher/staff for all they do)
Tuesday, May 9: “Thank You for Helping Us Grow!” (Bring your teacher/staff a flower)
Wednesday, May 10: "We're So Grape-ful for You!" (Bring your teacher/staff their favorite fruit)
Thursday, May 11: "School is a Picnic Thanks to Teachers & Staff Like You!"(Bring a small gift from your teacher’s/staff’s favorites list)
Friday, May 12: "You're Sweet as Apple Pie!" (Bring your teacher/staff their favorite sweets/candy/dessert)

As we work on filling in the missing favorites on the list, an updated list will be sent out on the first week of May to prepare for Teacher & Staff Appreciation week. Look for an email soon!

Field Day Information

Field Day will take place all day
Please make sure your child wears appropriate footwear
Wear your Field Day shirt!
Make sure to send your child with a water bottle (label it with their name!)
Apply sunscreen to your child before arriving at school

New Life Academy of Excellence classes welcomed special guests on Career Day on April 18, 2023. Our students were given first-hand insight into some exciting careers from community members!
