Kindergarten Hoppenings

Ms. Williams' Class November 1, 2013

This week we are learning the black song and how to spell the word black. The children read and illustrated See the Monsters during reading time. They were excited to read this book-there were many sight words and color words that they could read!

Here is one of our favorite morning movement songs!

Boom Chicka Boom - The Learning Station

During math time, the students have been learning about addition. They are learning to count a sets of objects together, as well as count on from a number. They have been playing fun games such as roll and record 2 (with two dice) and pumpkin math.

Today we had nutritionists from UVA come to teach us about the different food groups. They also taught us about which foods we should eat a lot of and which food we should just eat every once and a while.

The children did a wonderful job with their community helper projects. We enjoyed learning about all the different people that help our community. We also had a fun fall celebration. Thank you to all who donated something for the party and/or came to help!

The children learned how to take a survey today. They asked their classmates which they liked better, spiders or bats. They then took that information and made a graph. We found out that more of us like bats than spiders!
