Principal's Message - Changes to the 2018-19 calendar
Dear Arleta Families - The end of the 2018-19 school year has been changed to June 12, 2019. This is due to the two snow days that we had and the upcoming school closure on May 8th.
May 8th has been designated as a Day of Action by the Oregon Education Association. PPS believes that the number of teacher absences will exceed our ability to safely open and operate our schools. Because student safety is our highest priority, all PPS schools will be closed on May 8, 2019; consequently, we will be opening schools June 12.
Questions & Answers regarding school closure on May 8.
For more information on the OEA Day of Action https://www.may8forstudents.org/
We are currently working on adjusting our end of year activities and will share those dates with families as soon as they have been confirmed.
With Gratitude, Diana

The last meeting of the 2018-19 school year! We have a lot of board positions open on the PTA next year and need to fill the roles for next year at this meeting. If you've got ideas to improve Arleta or are interested in getting more engaged in all the great activities going on at the school, submit your nomination to arletaschoolpta@gmail.com and then come to the May meeting.
And as always, free pizza and child care (school-age children only please).

Arleta School - Room 7
Come join the PTA!
One of the best ways to show your kids that school is important is to be a part of it!
Take a leadership role within the PTA and help support Arleta in being a great place for all our kids.
>>These positions are required for us to be a PTA<<
President and Vice President, or two Co-Presidents: Two people are needed to lead a dedicated group of volunteers and work with administrators, teachers, staff, parents, and community members to help support Arleta. The president(s) helps our PTA achieve the membership’s chosen goals and ensures we stay in compliance with state and national PTA guidelines. Some specific duties include planning and facilitating meetings, being a co-signer on our bank account, and helping out at events. This position can be done by a president and vice-president or two co-presidents.
The following positions help the PTA meet its goals and build a community of Arleta supporters.
Fundraising Chair(s): Work with school administration, PTA board, and membership to create and achieve fundraising goals to support all the great things the PTA does for Arleta! This position could be shared between two co-chairs and you will have a committee of volunteers to help.
Teacher Appreciation Chair(s): Lead a committee to show our teachers and staff how much we value their work! Coordinate dinner for November parent teacher conferences, Teacher Appreciation week in May, and other dates as you choose in between. You will have a team of volunteers to help and a small budget for purchases. Meetings are not required, and this position can be shared between co-chairs.
Or create your own position! Do you have any special skills or passion that you would like to bring to the PTA to help support our school! We would love to hear more!
As you consider which role is right for you, keep in mind that past members are remaining on the board and can get you acquainted with the PTA. Please contact us with questions and nominations – arletaschoolpta@gmail.com
Hanging Basket Time!
Pizzicato Dine-in Fundraiser
Skip out of cooking dinner and head to the Mount Tabor Pizzicato (6042 SE Division) on Tuesday, May 7 for salad, pizza and more. The PTA will get 10 percent of the day's sales.
A Very Important Date!

A Big Shout Out!
For April's teacher appreciation event, the Arleta PTA did a little something different. We arranged to have Licensed Massage Therapists available to give our teachers the chance to de-stress with a free massage.
This would have never been possible without the four wonderful LMTs who generously donated their time and skills! We'd like to give them a shout out! And if you happen to be looking to get a massage, it's hard to imagine a better list to start with!
