Prestwick LEarns: Student friendly rules to use technology responsibly
In thinking of this we wanted to share 5 simple tips from author Thomas Payero:
1. Treat others how you wanted to treated in person and online.
2. Keep private information private - passwords and identification numbers
3. Think about the future - what you put on line gets saved
4. Be mindful of your "brand"- you brand is what you stand for or your reputation.
5. Be Yourself - talk with your child that it is okay to not be like everyone else. BE your own best version of yourself.

We thank our Prestwick parents for your support and ongoing conversations with your students about care for technology and digital citizenship. We also remind families that if you become aware of an issue that is based in the inappropriate use of technology please give us a call so that we can partner together to resolve the concern.
See a couple of resources for parents located on National Online Safety Center below. Help yourself to their website as well. It has a wide range of information.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT
This week's staff spotlight shines on our amazing band director, Mrs. Kaleen R. Hernandez! “One of the things I love the most about our Prestwick Band is that we take every challenge as a learning opportunity for growth and we never allow our unique situation to turn us away from the highest of expectations.”
She received her Bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of North Texas and her Master’s degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
Mrs. Hernandez has been a music educator for 13 years. She started her musical career in 2006 teaching elementary music in Garland ISD. In 2013, she began teaching private percussion and piano lessons in Little Elm and surrounding areas. She also assisted with middle school and high school drumline camps. Mrs. Hernandez continues to serve as a bass line marching tech, clinician, and all-region judge.
In 2016, she accepted the band director’s position at Prestwick STEM Academy and is truly enjoying the opportunity to work with these amazing students.
Mrs. Hernandez is married to her high school sweetheart. They have two adorable sons and a spunky maltese poodle. Aside from music, her hobbies include playing golf and being an avid TX Rangers fan!
We are so grateful to have her at PSA and to watch our students soar in band under her direction!
