Weekly Update-Volume VIII Issue 19

Happy New Year!!!

New Faces for 2018!

Please welcome Ms. Chiquie Gregory to the Bruin Family. Ms. Gregory will join our Exceptional Children's Department on January 3. Ms. Esther Minton will also rejoin our staff for the new year. Please stop by and welcome these ladies personally.

Testing

The first semester exam schedule has been added to the testing module of the CCHS Staff Canvas Page. Please review this to help you pace for the end of the semester. The administrator/proctor schedule is also available on Canvas. Please review the released NC Final Exams and EOC's (the link is below) to prepare for the exams.

Teacher Made Exams

If you do not teach a course with an EOC, NC Final Exam, or CTE Post Assessment, your students are required to take a teacher-made exam. This exam should count as 25 percent of a student's final grade and should be given during the designated testing period. Please review the exam exemption procedures and test every student who does not meet the exemption criteria.

Bruin Pride Advisory Planning Meeting

We will have another meeting on for anyone interested in helping plan our second semester Bruin Pride (Home Room) advisory lessons. We would also like to develop a Bruin Success plan for students during the first two weeks of the new semester.

Field Trips

Field trips were a topic of discussion at the School Improvement Team meeting last week. The team decided that December 20th would be the cut off date for first semester field trips. This will allow us to maximize instructional time without interruptions when we return from the break. It was also decided that we will use a standard field trip permission slip beginning second semester. The permission slip will be signed by the parent and the teachers of each student.

Athletic Gate Duty

The athletic duty sign up sheets have been placed in the Staff Canvas page. If you need to change a duty, please let me or Coach Harnly know. Thanks for your help with this!

EVAAS

You may have noticed that EVAAS has now been added to the NC Ed Could. All of your growth information for the 2016-2017 school year has now been updated. This information can be very useful. We sent a teacher from each of your departments to the EVAAS training last week. They will share information at your next department meeting. In the meantime, feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Staff Handbook

The Staff Handbook can be found in Canvas. Please review this before the start of school. The Staff Canvas page also contains videos and step by step instructions for Educator's Handbook, Aesop, Travel Tracker, etc...
