Hawks' Nest Lesson 9: Information Item

We are planning the culminating activity for outside of Hawks' Nest. This is tentatively set for 5/31/19 when each grade level will be coming to a common location to paint their rock. Details will be coming soon.
Food Allergies: Information Item
Below are a few reminders about food allergies as we close out the school year. Also, as you plan for next year, please remember that Phase 2 of the Food Free in Three Mission will begin in the fall.
- Students may not share food.
- ABC Countdown - do not have any of the days associated with food.
- Do not use food as a reward.
- Staff should adhere to the no nut policy in their classrooms (ex. No KIND bars on desk).
- PTO events - please have the nurse review a list of the foods that are being served.
- Remind students and staff to please wash hands after consuming anything with nuts.
Summer Professional Learning Highlight - Kagan: Information Item
As part of our #d97learns week, teachers are being offered the opportunity to participate in Kagan professional learning June 12-13. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Kagan, it is professional learning that is focused on student engagement structures that promote cooperative learning.

Summer PDs with #D97Learns
Trainings include learning how to implement Kagan strategies, becoming a Google certified teacher, and expert work in Units of Study (Reading, Writing, Phonics).

Holmes School Book Swap
Monday, June 3rd from 9:00-10:00
Holmes Elementary students are invited to participate in a book swap, to be held in anticipation of a summer of reading. The book swap will be held on the blacktop on the morning of Monday, June 3rd. Students will bring in gently used books and trade them into their teacher for Book Bucks to purchase "new to you" books to read! Here's how our book swap will work:
