Uranium mined in Canada helps fuel U.S. nucular power plants. U.S. investment is primarily in Canada's mining and smelting industries, Petrolium, chemicals, and manufacture of machinery and transportation equiptment,, and finance. Canadian investment in the United States in concertrated in finance and insurance, manufacturing, banking, information and retail trade, and other services.

In people-to-people contact. About 300,000 people cross between the countries every day by all modes of transport. Canada and the U.S. are the world's largest trading partners with $782 billion in goods and services in 2013. The U.S. is the most important destination for Canadian direct investment abroad, totaling $318 billion in 2013.

The similarities of the Canadian and United States is that they are Both a federal system of government, dividing power between national and regional (states/provinces) governments. And that they Both are a representative democracy, with power lying in the hands of the people, through their elected representatives.
