Message From Dr. Lalime
Hello Sabercat Family!
Thank you for an amazing week! The assistant principals and I are beyond grateful for all the lovely surprises we received every day last week for National Principals Month.
Sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves because we are so focused on the work we are doing as administrators. Thank you for taking such good care of us, and more importantly, for collaborating with each one of us on a weekly basis. Serving you and the students at SJH is the most meaningful part of being a Principal. I am without words and cannot express how thankful I am for the amazing group of people I have the privilege to lead here at SJH.
I am extra thankful in the month of October because it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For those of you who are friends with me on Facebook, you would have seen this sweet message form my Mom who is 84 years young. "Cancer is an evil in this world and it affects many families. No one in my family had ever been diagnosed with this horrible disease so I never worried when I had my yearly mammograms. then at the age of 55 I was told I needed to have a biopsy after my mammogram. Fortunately, the biopsy showed only calcifications, to my relief. Then, at the age of 69, cancer was found in my right breast. A lumpectomy was performed, and no cancer cells were found in my lymph nodes. then, at the age of 71, cancer was found on my left breast. a lumpectomy was performed, con cancer cells were found in my lymph nodes, and radiation treatment was administered. because the cancer was found early due to my yearly mammograms, I felt very fortunate. At the age of 73, however, cancer was found in my uterus and the situation seemed much more dire. A hysterectomy was performed, and medication was taken for 5 years. Thus far I had no recurrence of cancer. I did not live in fear with the diagnosis at any time. God is in control of our lives and has a purpose for each of us. I attribute my life i n the overcoming of cancer to the prayers of faithful family and friends, and to God who loves me and has always held the plans for my future in His hands"
I am so grateful that this is my Mom's breast cancer survival story. Some peoples' stories aren't over yet, so for those that are currently struggling - you're not alone.
I hope you all enjoy this "cold" front this week, and never forget how much you matter to me, and to the entire SJH family! Together we can make a difference for every Sabercat!
Sincerely,
Dr. Ann Lalime

A reminder for Staff to email their AP and Dr. Lalime when planning an event that will be open to the public on campus. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, all events held on the campus premises must be submitted and approved by the District before any reservations are made at the campus level.
ASEOP coding for PD absences
When submitting absences on AESOP for Professional development held outside of SJH, but within the District, you must code the absence as "Staff Development".
When attending a Professional development outside of the District you will code that absence on AESOP as "School Business".
As a campus we are each granted a number of "School Business" days. When staff incorrectly use that code ( when the PD is held within the district) we are deducted those days from our bank.

SABERCAT OF THE WEEK
Sabercat of the week goes to Maggie Spezia!
Maggie is a new Sabercat this year but has already become a positive presence on campus. She makes it a point to introduce herself in person and create a relationship with teachers she’ll be collaborating with. She is positive and upbeat about her role here at SJH and the students she serves. I have appreciated her upfront communication and hands on approach since the beginning of the year.
Maggie can frequently be seen making her rounds around the school, stopping by and checking in on her students and being a smiling (and yet masked) face! Her energy is contagious. Maggie looks for new and creative ways to engage and fulfill her ASIP students, one of those has been to assign them jobs in SJH’s new outdoor space. This not only supports our student garden, but it has given her students purpose and ownership of something beautiful.
You can tell Maggie cares about how her kids are doing in all of their classes and makes a point to talk to teachers about what might help them be successful in a proactive way.
I know I speak for the faculty & staff of Stockdick Junior High when I say: We’re so glad you’re a Sabercat, Maggie!
