Well that weekend was more like it! Some gorgeous sun and warm weather. I am hoping that many of our families got a chance to safely get outside and enjoy!

Don't forget to purchase your Yearbook! The deadline for purchasing a yearbook is a WEDNESDAY, May 20th!!!
We have outlined a plan for grade 8 end of year activities. While we are still working on the details we wanted to let you know about upcoming dates for events.
Week of June 15-19th: We will have a Virtual Trip to Washington DC for Grade 8
Wednesday, June 17th: We will have a virtual awards ceremony, recognizing our grade 8 student achievement award winners. During this ceremony we will also announce all our Grade 8 students for promotion.

Grade 6 & 7
We are also planning some fun activities for grade 6 and 7 to end the year. More details to follow!
Spring Pictures
We heard from Lifetouch that no pictures were sent to CMS. If you had an online account, LIfetouch emailed about Spring pictures. Anyone looking to order that did not get their codes via email can call our Customer Care line to gain access to their images. 800-736-4753.
Thursday Night Trivia
Remind your child about a fun Thursday Night event! Ms. Silva hosts school wide trivia and the top three scores get gift cards to local places!
As always, please keep the lines of communication open. If your child is getting overwhelmed, reach out, we can reduce the load and help them organize their time. If they need more challenging material, also let us know, we have a lot of content available. Feel free to call or email with questions and concerns. I hope everyone has remained safe and healthy!
YearBooks!
We would like to be able to make sure that every grade 8 student gets a yearbook. If you would like to donate a yearbook for an 8th grade student please fill out the link a second time and use the words "Donate Book" as the students name.
Send a Smile with Chartwells!
One of the most inspiring things we’ve seen over the last month and throughout our COVID response is the way our communities have come together to support each other. For Chartwells, that has meant partnering with groups across schools including transportation teams, school staff, and volunteers so that we can continue to serve meals to students and share some smiles along the way.
Even though it’s something we don’t regularly discuss, it is worth sharing that Chartwells is part of the Compass Group community. In addition to schools, our fellow Compass companies serve everywhere from hospitals and corporate cafes to senior living communities.
In the spirit of continuing to bring people together and help our communities, we had an idea and hope you’ll join us in our effort to bring more people a smile. In our Morrison Living senior communities, extra precautions are in place which does not allow residents to receive visitors or gather in groups. We’re working to rally children across the country to help “Send a Smile” that will be delivered to seniors with their meals.
We’ve developed a fun activity packet for students to print at home and have some fun with. The packet features spaces for students to introduce themselves, draw a picture or write a letter. Once completed, students and families can simply drop it in the mail and our team will take care of delivering it to brighten a senior’s day.
"Commit to You" Program
Dr. Sejal Prajapati, who did a presentation for Norwood earlier this spring, has developed a program called, "Commit to You." I'm happy to share that she has taken this program virtual, and developed a series of 6-10 minute videos that have been adapted to help deal with COVID-19 stress.
Program Description
During Covid-19, there is unprecedented uncertainty, stress, and loss in all our lives. People might not have control over how much time they have, but they do have control over what they do with that time. Commit to You is designed to help you make the most of your life by helping you connect to and engage with what is most important to you. It is not easy to handle all the stress that people are facing during Covid-19, or to start living what is important during it. Therefore, another fundamental component of Commit to You is developing a self-compassionate relationship to yourself. Through this self-compassionate relationship, you become your own best friend. You develop the skills to cope with your inner experiences as well as outer stressors, to understand and give yourself what you need during difficult experiences, and to be present to savor the good moments in your life.https://www.committoyou.org/covid19-main
