NKC SCHOOLS MEAL SERVICE INFORMATION
NKC Schools is prepared to serve any and all families in need of food. If you or someone you know would benefit from this service, please spread the word. If you don’t have need for this resource, certainly don’t feel obligated. Options to receive food include bus delivery at designated stops or pick up at one of our high schools. Please see the image below for details or visit www.nkcschools.org/meals for more information.
Additionally, NKC Schools has pledged to pay our classified employees throughout these uncertain times. The number of meals served will have no impact on this commitment. It’s important to note that the district’s funding isn’t dependent on all meals being taken. We are simply happy to serve!

A few important points regarding changes to AP Testing information:
- Traditional face-to-face AP exams will not take place this spring. Students will have the option to take a 45-minute online free-response exam. Some students may want to take the exam sooner than later, while content is fresh in their minds. According to College Board-AP Central, the full exam schedule, specific free-response question types that will be on each AP exam, along with additional testing details will be available by April 3.
- The College Board ensures us that colleges and universities will support this solution; as they are committed to ensure that AP students receive credit they have worked for this year to earn.
- Students will be able to take these streamlined exams on any device they have access to - a computer, tablet, or smartphone. The exam questions will be developed and administered in ways to prevent cheating. Course specific exam information can be found on the link below.
- Students can choose to opt-out of these exams as well. AP encourages students to utilize the new online resources in-conjunction with local classroom/online learning. AP teachers can work with their students to decide if the student should take the exams. This is an individual decision, and will not be a requirement from the school district this school year. All students, whether they decide to take the online AP exams or not, will receive the NKC School District's GPA incentive this school year. If a student chooses to opt out, there is nothing they need to do right now in AP Classroom. This will be resolved closer to testing time.

During this unprecedented time, the Staley Library staff is doing everything we can to meet the needs of our teachers and students. If you have questions about library business, please send them to either librarian (elizabeth.ferguson@nkcschools.org or theresa.christal@nkcschools.org) and we will do our best to get back to you as soon as we can.
Because of the unknowns, we have extended our circulation period for library books to the end of the school year. Our library paraprofessional, Mrs. Taylor, is currently making sure overdue books are renewed remotely. This will be an ongoing process, so please give us some grace as we get everything sorted out as we go. As always, communicate with us however you need.
In the meantime, this is a great time to utilize our connection with Mid Continent Public Library! We work closely with MCPL, and unless you have opted out, your student has a MCPL account. Their username is nkc and their student number (nkc123456) and their password, if needed, is their 8-digit birthdate. Students can download the free Libby app and connect it to MCPL for access to their e-book collection.
Please be mindful that this is a service provided by MCPL, not the Staley Library (or, indeed, any NKC School program). Consequently, we do not have answers to every question that may arise when using Libby. MCPL offers a lot of additional services for patrons; check out mymcpl.org for more information.
THANK YOU! I hope you’re well!!
