PARENTVUE ATTENDANCE
If school has already started for the day, you will not be able to use this method. (It will excuse your student for the next school day instead)
To report your child’s full-day absence (Not partial days or early pick-ups) on ParentVUE, follow these steps:
- Open the ParentVUE app or access ParentVUE online.
- Click the blue “Report Absence” button next to the appropriate student’s name.
- Enter the absence date(s); if it’s a one-day absence, you don’t need to include an end date.
- Select the reason for your student's absence. In the notes section, you can enter more information.
- Optional: take a photo of a doctor’s note or other documentation and attach it to the report.
- Hit “Save.” Note: if school has already started for the day, you will not be able to use this method. You’ll need to call the school’s main phone line 503-356-2450 and report the absence by following the prompts press 1 for English, 2 for Spanish and then press 1 for attendance.
- Please do not use this feature to try and excuse an absence from the previous day- it will mark your student absent for the current day.

PARTIAL DAY ABSENCES AND PICKING UP EARLY PROCEDURE

Home is the best place for a child who is ill. If your child is sick with a diagnosed communicable disease, please notify the school as soon as possible. This notification will greatly assist others who, due to medical reasons and/or treatments, have weakened immune systems and may require immediate and specialized care.
If a student becomes ill during the school day, the student must go to the school's health room to be evaluated and then signed out by a parent/guardian.
NOTIFY TEACHERS OF AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS AND PROGRAMS
If your student is attending an after school club or program, please notify the teacher. If we do not hear from a parent, the student will be sent home by their regular dismissal plan. We do not always receive rosters from the clubs and have no way of identifying which students are registered. Thank you for your understanding.
CHANGE OF AFTERSCHOOL PLANS
Please be sure that your child knows what they are doing after school, before they leave in the morning. If there is a change to their normal dismissal plans, please send a note, email or ParentSquare message the teacher. If the teacher is not notified of the change by a parent, students will be sent home per their normal plan. We ask that phone calls with change of plans be limited to emergencies only. Urgent messages should not be left on teacher voice mails during the school day. We cannot guarantee that last minute messages will be delivered before the end of the day. Thanks for helping us limit classroom disruptions.
CAR/WALKER ARRIVAL TIME 8:25 AM- CLASSROOM DOORS LOCK AT 8:30 AM
For the safety of our students, students that are parent drop off, walkers and bike riders are not to arrive before 8:25 am (8:15 am if eating breakfast). Bus riders arrive at 8:15 am because the school buses need to leave earlier to pick up middle school students.Classroom doors do not open until 8:25 am. We do not have supervision for all students to safely line up outside the doors until 8:15 am.
School doors shut and lock at 8:30 am. If your child is not in the classroom by 8:30 am, please walk them to the main front doors and bring them to the office. Staff will escort them to class.
ARRIVE ON TIME- READY TO LEARN
Make arriving to school on time a priority. Students should arrive at school between 8:15 (if eating breakfast) and 8:25 am and be in their classroom ready to learn by 8:30 am. Students who arrive late disrupt the entire class and miss important information teachers share about the plans for the day. Children who exhibit chronic lateness often struggle with organization in general. They may find it hard to keep track of personal items or forget to turn in homework. Helping them establish the habit of timeliness tends to have a positive ripple effect to other areas of life.
Help your child have a good start to their day by making sure they arrive to school on time!
TOY AND CELL PHONE/SMART WATCH POLICY

If your family needs you to have a phone/smart watch for safety, it must be turned off and put away as soon as you arrive at school. If you bring out your phone /smart watch or use it without permission at school, an adult will take it away. Your parent will need to come to the office and pick it up.

- Use the left lane as a thru lane to reach the lower parking lot and then park and walk across to the school. When crossing the lane to reach the school, please cross ONLY at the crosswalk.
- When you use the right lane (drop-off lane), always pull as far forward as possible before dropping off your student.
- Your student should ALWAYS exit the car from the passenger side of the vehicle.

If your student needs a new coat this year, please fill out the attached google form with their name, teacher, and coat size and we will make arrangements for them to come and pick one out during the school day. Coats will be collected in the coming weeks and distributed in October - just in time for the rain!
BIRTHDAY TREATS AND INVITATIONS
Birthday treats /prizes not to be brought to school.
Due to student allergies, equity and the number of birthdays we celebrate each month we do not allow birthday treats/prizes at school. We will however, be recognizing and celebrating birthdays on their special day in other special ways!
We also ask that private birthday party invitations or other type of private invitations NOT be delivered and distributed at school. This can lead to hurt feelings among students. Please make an effort to deliver these important messages in another manner.
Thank you for your cooperation. It is greatly appreciated.
