Weekly News for English II Honors
Mrs. Chapman's English II Class
May 9th, 2016
We have only three weeks left, and it is very hard to believe.
Literature: We will finish up with our study of Things Fall Apart this week. Students are working on their final assignment for the text the first two days of this week. On Wednesday, we will begin our study of the graphic novel Persepolis. This is usually a fun way to end the semester because it is lighter reading, and students tend to enjoy the different format and the content of the novel.
Grammar: This week, students will have instruction on subject and verb agreement. Classwork and homework will be assigned to practice and reinforce these concepts.
Vocabulary: Unit 19 is up on the website for students to access. They should review the powerpoint and take notes on the stems/roots presented. Five sentences should be submitted on Friday before they take the assessment.
Things Fall Apart
This novel concentrates on the impact of imperialism on the Igbo tribe.
Students will study and practice the concept of subject/verb agreement through various activities.
The graphic novel is about the Iranian Revolution and the changes it made to an established culture.
