Important news and dates
January 13-17: College and Career Week:
Monday, January 13th ~ Mathews Spirit Day– Wear Mathews shirt or colors to support your school path to success
Tuesday, January 14th~ Pajama Day– Wear Pajamas to learn about the
career of your dreams, wear or bring shoes for recess or PE please
Wednesday, January 15th~ Wear your favorite college/university colors or shirt– Love my future college
Thursday, January 16th~ Wear Patriotic, show your American pride to achieve your American dream
Friday, January 17th~ Career Day– Dress up as any career (students can represent any career, does not have to be their desired career & Must avoid fantasy characters such as Spiderman, or princesses- please no toy weapons to school)
January 20: No School: Student Holiday
January 7- 10
Language Arts:
The students can make predictions about the characteristics of informational texts.
The students will use commas to separate single words in a series.
Math: Students will solve problem by using patterns.
Science: Students will observe and describe different forms of energy.
Social Studies: Students will identify the purpose of the Declaration of Independence in order to understand a democratic society reflects individual rights, freedoms, and responsibilities.
Homework:
Reading: Please make sure your child is reading 20 minutes a day and then writing a 3-5 sentence response about what they read in their reading log notebook.
Math: Please make sure to check your child's planner on a daily basis for math homework assignments.
January 13-17

The students can use text features to make and confirm predictions about informational texts.
The students will use use adverbs to tell when something happened, happens or will happen.
Math: Students will solve problem by using patterns.
Science: Students will can begin to communicate my understanding of organisms and environments.
Social Studies: Students will Students identify the purpose of and describe important ideas in the U.S. Constitution in order to understand a democratic society reflects individual rights, freedoms, and responsibilities.
Homework:
