Staying Sane This Holiday Season

With all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, here are a few tips to help you maintain your sanity!

1. Begin working on your calendar now! Start filling it in so you don’t overbook. Remember, if your first grader still naps on Saturday afternoons for an hour don’t take nap time away! You will be miserable and so will they. No one likes grumpy adults.

2. Remember it is okay to say NO. Do not feel bad about saying no to something or someone. You know how much activity your family can handle in a day.

3. Take time for yourself. It will be hard to do something daily but try to do something at least once a week for yourself, a hot bath, mani/pedi, or simply doing something you love (reading, baking, walking). This will lower your stress level and help you stay focused on what needs to be done.

4. Have fun! Find the joy in the things you do for others and your family. Play games with your kids, decorate cookies as a family, watch your favorite holiday shows together. These are things they will remember for a life time, not the perfectly wrapped presents or decorated tree!

Have a Merry Christmas and holiday season!
