It has been fantastic seeing whānau in the school grounds again - it really feels that life is returning back to normal!
Before/After School Care Consultation
Kelly Club recently closed the after school care at St Brigid’s due to low numbers. Some of the students who were attending the club at St Brigid’s are now attending the club at West Park School.
We have had parent requests to consult with our school community to see if parent needs have changed since the closure of Kelly Club at St Brigid’s and whether parents would like to have child care now if it was offered.
Please answer the following questions in the Google Form to help us with our planning.
Cyber Safety Programme
As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence and our duty to ensure students’ safety and wellbeing, we undertake cyber safety programmes and technologies in partnership with Family Zone.
Family Zone is New Zealand’s leading provider of cyber safety technology. Family Zone helps St Brigid’s School ensure our students are safe and on task during school time and offers parents a range of options for monitoring and supporting their children’s online journey.
A Holistic Cyber Safety Programme
We are committed to creating a cyber safe environment for our school and are taking a holistic and long term view. Our programme includes these key initiatives:
Cyber Safety Hub: The Cyber Safety Hub is an incredible online resource which has been developed to keep our community across the School’s cyber safety programme and the latest cyber safety topics and issues. It also includes information on Family Zone and how it can benefit your family.
Monitoring and Filtering: To ensure student use of technology at school is compliant, we will be installing Family Zone technology into the school network, student accounts and on all student learning devices.
Parental Monitoring Tools: To support parents we will be providing you with a monitoring tool called Family Zone Insights. You can use this account with your child’s school and personal devices.
Invitation to create a Family Zone Account
Go to our school’s Cyber Safety Hub to create a Family Zone Insights account. With this account you can:
Monitor your child’s internet use outside of school hours;
Disable school policy for your child’s school holidays or sick days; and
Optionally install Family Zone onto your children's personal devices.
Thank you for supporting your school and our students in this important cyber safety initiative. And remember:
If you are new to Family Zone: Go to our school’s Cyber Safety Hub to create your Family Zone Insights account.
If you’re already using Family Zone: There is nothing you need to do, however, we encourage you to sign-in to your Family Zone account and review your settings. If you can’t remember your password, click on the forgot password link and follow the reset password process.
Looking ahead to the end of term, please note that we finish school next Friday 30 September at 2.00pm. Wishing whānau a wonderful school holiday break!
Thank you to our families who have paid their school donations this year. As of 19 September, 32% of our donations have been paid. THANK YOU!!! Donations make up a portion of our income and without these donations, we would have to cut back on our programmes that greatly benefit our students and school.
We wish all our families a wonderful school holiday break.
St Brigid's Kapa Haka Festival
Reminder for parents of performers:
Please make sure your child meets Tania Fransen in the Onslow College lobby no later than 10.00am. Girls are to arrive in their costumes with their hair in a bun and boys are to have their black shorts on ready for the rest of their costume. See the email I sent out yesterday for the map of where our classroom is for changing and the programme for the day. See you there.

Message from our DRS
How lovely to see the church packed on Sunday. With restrictions lifted, it’s so good to have the church buzzing again. Without masks, it feels like a luxury to see each other's faces and hear voices more clearly!
This is perfect timing, as we journey together to decide the best way forward, moving from three church buildings to the building of one new, multipurpose church that allows us to fulfill our mission as disciples of Christ . Exciting times! I encourage everybody to be part of it.
One of my students attends a different church and often in her weekly reflection she writes of her excitement looking forward to church on Sunday. Wouldn’t it be amazing if our tamariki (children) felt the same about coming to Mass! I continue to ponder how we can make this happen.
Altar serving training
The wonderful Wendy from the parish is holding a couple of training sessions for children who have made their First Holy Communion and would like to be altar servers at the Parish Saturday vigil Masses and Sunday morning Masses.
Children only need to attend one session at 4.00pm today, Wednesday 21 September or Thursday 22 September at Sts Peter and Peter’s Church.
It will be lovely to have more students to choose from to serve at school Masses/Liturgies.
Kia tau te rangimarie ki a tātou. Peace be upon us.
