Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome Back!! I hope you all had an exciting and restful summer. I am happy to announce that we will be having our 2nd annual "Meet and Greet" on August 31st. Students will have the opportunity to stop by and say hello to their new teacher between 10:00-11:00 AM. Our teachers have taken time and careful thought in preparing their classrooms for all our students and we anticipate an academically rich and productive school year!
As noted in my welcome back letter, please be cognizant of classrooms with student allergies and be mindful when packing snacks for your child. As in the past, food cannot be brought in for birthdays as per the Board Policy. The policy is available for review on the North Merrick Website.
The faculty and I look forward to greeting you on Thursday, September 15th at “Meet the Teacher Night.” More information will come out about the evening in the coming weeks.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me at 516-379-3732 or e-mail me at HBromberg@nmerrick.org.
The staff and I look forward to working with you and your children. Once again, welcome back to what I am sure will be a terrific school year!
Sincerely,
Hillary K. Bromberg, Ed.D.

Did You Know we Have a Direct Absence Line?
Please be reminded that regular school attendance is not only mandated by law, but is a key ingredient for educational success. Legal reasons for absences include: illness, death in family, court appearances, and observance of religious holidays. If your child is frequently absent due to illness, you will be contacted and medical documentation may be requested. All other absences will be considered unexcused or truant.
Please also be aware that lateness to school can be considered partial truancy and is monitored as closely as absences. Chronic lateness is disruptive to the students in the class, the teacher, and most importantly, to the child. Parents and guardians are asked to contact the school to report each absence. This can be done by calling our Absentee Line at 516-379-3733. If you are requesting classwork and/or homework for your child on the day of the absence, please leave that message with the nurse or on the absence line. Parents are requested to submit a written and signed excuse note for each absence your child has, when they return to school.
