Friday Flyer

December 2, 2022

Dear Families,

It’s hard to believe that December is already here, but at least we’ve been able to enjoy some great weather and keep the kids outside. Inside, of course, is filled with wonderful learning throughout the school – it's always my favorite part of any day to hop into classrooms and see what the kids are working on – and they’re never at a loss for words or details to share!

WINTER CONCERTS ARE HERE!

Next week marks the start of our winter concert season!!

Students should plan to arrive 15 minutes early and dressed nicely -- there are no color requirements.

Wednesday, December 14th- Middle School Winter Concerts (Grades 5-8)

7th & 8th Grade at 7PM

LOST CLOTHING – PLEASE SEE PHOTOS AND ZOOM IN!

We have a large amount of unclaimed clothes – even from last year – that we wanted everyone to look through before we start donating them to local organizations. PLEASE LABEL JACKETS AND HOODIES. Any little details help us return clothes we find to their owners – even if it’s just initials!

Please see the photos below and contact Deb Kaplan in my office if you recognize something!

EXTENDED!

PLEASE COMPLETE: CLASS CONTACT INFORMATION – IMPORTANT!

We really want to help class parents and others reach out to you about upcoming events or other needs, but to do so in the ways that are easiest for you. PLEASE complete this form below ASAP with the info you’d prefer people to use (certain email addresses or phone numbers, for example) – complete the form for each adult contact (so if there are two adults, you’ll complete the form twice). We’ll leave the form open to use through Sunday night. Once we have the info, we’ll organize it by class/grade and share it with the class parents. THANK YOU!!

WELCOME BACK TO MS. PALMESI & MS. WILEY!

Ms. Palmesi, our speech and language specialist, is back from her maternity leave and Ms. Wiley, our kindergarten teacher, returns on Monday! A huge thank-you goes out to Ms. Antonecchia and Ms. Vacca for creating such a loving learning space for our kindergarteners for these first three months. Ms. Antonecchia will be staying on as the teaching assistant while Ms. Vacca will stay with us supporting as a substitute every day throughout the school.

DECEMBER PIE & CAKE FUNDRAISER – DON'T FORGET!

Pies! Pies! Cakes! Cakes! The scrumptious Carousel Cakes are back – this time for the December holiday season! Support this fundraiser by treating yourself to these delicacies or giving them as gifts. Send the attached paper form with cash or a check, or you can purchase online with credit card: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090548aeaf2da3fd0-2022

Orders are due by MONDAY, December 5th, and the pies and cakes will be ready for pick up on Monday, December 19th.

SAVE THE DATE: ONE POCO NIGHT – JANUARY 26!

Our ONE POCO Night (formerly One World Night) is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, January 26th (Snow date February 2nd). As we begin planning for this community event, please fill out THIS SURVEY on family cultures. This information will be used to help us understand the cultural roots that make up our community and better inform our teaching. Thank you for your participation! More details about the night to follow in the coming weeks!

IMPORTANT REMINDER – FOOD ALLERGIES AND PARTIES

As is the case with all schools, we have children with a variety of serious food allergies. If you are interested in sending food into school, either for a birthday or for a holiday, you MUST first clear it with the classroom teacher(s) AND the nurse IN ADVANCE and food must include options for ALL students given the respective restrictions. If food arrives in our lobby, our security guard will call the nurse to make sure it was planned and approved in advance. If a student brings it in from the bus or car circle, we’ll send the child to the office to make sure it is approved. Otherwise, we won't be able to deliver it to the classroom. Thank you for understanding!

Have a fantastic weekend!
