Yosemite National Park

Park History

Although people have been living in the area for 3000 years, American settlers didn't move in until the 19th century gold rush. It became a national park in 1906 under Roosevelt.

The Yosemite has a Mediterranean climate, giving most rainfall during it's mild winters. Low humidity and frequent thunderstorms also make forest fires common.
