Dear Parents,
What a wonderful 2nd week of school! Thank you all for your smiles and support. Many thanks to PTO for sponsoring the Chick-fil-a Biscuit sale. As I had shared in my previous communications, these do sell out quickly. Please know that any child who did not get one, we send to breakfast in the cafeteria as we don't want hungry children. Thank you all for your support for this event and to our wonderful volunteers!
As we are now on the brink of implementing the use of our security door with video doorbell, I need to remind you that you must walk your student in if arriving after 7:40 a.m. If you don't there is the risk of your child being locked out not knowing what to do and we are unaware. This is the policy as written in the handbook, "All students are expected to be in class at 7:40 a.m. each morning that school is in sessions (180 days a year). Your child will be considered tardy after 7:40 a.m. and must report to the front lobby to obtain a tardy pass. Parents must accompany their child to the lobby." Please practice this policy now to help prevent safety risks in the future. Thank you for your help with this.
This is a three-day weekend as Monday is a holiday for Labor Day! Enjoy this extra day with your family! If you are traveling, please be safe. We look forward to seeing our smiling Mustangs on Tuesday!
Happy weekend! Remember to read a great book or two with our Mustangs!
Yours truly,
Jan Fickling, Principal of Midway Elementary

Create your own Tabata!
Midway Elementary Physical Education classes have been performing Tabatas for the last 5 years. Tabata training is one of the most popular forms of high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Our Tabata exercises last only 4 minutes, but it's likely to be one of the longest 4 minutes you've endured. The structure of the program is as follows:
- Work out hard for 20 seconds
- Rest for 10 and get in the next body position
- Complete 8 rounds
You push yourself as hard as you can for 20 seconds and rest for 10 seconds. This is one set. You'll complete eight sets of each exercise.
You can do pretty much any exercise you wish. You can do squats, push-ups, burpees or any other exercise that works your large muscle groups. Have your child create a Tabata and choose 8 exercises and then play the Tabata music in the link below.
