Happy Monday everyone! We hope you had a restful weekend. We hope you all are healthy and safe and doing well. With all that has transpired in the last couple of weeks, we need to ensure we are caring for each other now, more than ever. If your students and/or family are struggling please know that we are here to support you in any way that we can. You are all a part of our Toro Family and we have to come together to support each other. Teachers have been checking in with students last week and this week after coming back from break to ensure they are safe and have what they need to be successful. We thank you all for the support of your students at home and all the work you have been doing to help them succeed. Please check below for this week's updates and we hope you have a great week!

You all have probably received some messages/posts from our district-wide communication tool called ParentSquare. We encourage you to download the app in order to fully engage with all of the features available to you through the app. If you have yet to receive a text message/email/phone call please let us know and we can send you an invite to join.

Counselor's Corner

It can be difficult to talk with our children about upsetting events. But, as parents, we can help facilitate our childrens’ thoughts and emotions and process current events. Our children tune into our emotions and watch to see how we react. How we react has a large impact on how our children will react. Therefore, make sure you are taking care of yourself and regulating your emotions in healthy ways. Create the time and space for them to talk with you. It is important to listen without judgement and to ask clarifying questions, encouraging our children to think critically and to discern facts from misinformation. Below are two good articles from Common Sense with recommendations that are developmentally appropriate for specific age groups.
