WMS Friday Forecast

September 20, 2019 - Week 6

Good Afternoon,

A couple of weeks ago your child completed his/her Performance Series Fall Benchmark Assessment on Math and Reading concepts. On Friday, September 20th your son/daughter's team will be distributing the assessment report in one of his/hers classes, and your son/daughter is expected to bring this informative progress document home to share with you. Be on the look out for this document and review your child's performance/progress with them. Attached below you'll find a more detailed description of how to interpret and better understand the scores. These documents can also be found on the District 303 website under the Assessment and Accountability Department tab or by following this direct link: Performance Series. Should you have any follow up questions about the assessment report please contact your child's Language Arts or Math teacher directly.

Wredling School Picture Day

Order forms for picture day (Monday, September 23rd) were distributed to students this week. They should bring them home for you to look at the photo options this year. Students should bring the completed order form back to school to order.

Our new vendor, Color Portraits, also offers an online ordering option!

RE: Handicap Parking Spaces

Please remember that these spaces are reserved for those vehicles which display either a valid Handicap "hang tag" or license plate. The police will be called for any cars not displaying either of those identifiers while parking in our designated handicap spots.

We understand that parking here can be challenging but those spots are clearly marked and are not for general use - even for a quick pick up or drop off.

Thank you!

FRONT CIRCLE ENTRY AND PARKING

Please do not enter the front circle from 7:30-8:45 AM and from 3:00-4:00 PM. These times are reserved for bus traffic and we will only allow busses during these times. We appreciate your support as we work to keep your children safe.

If you are here for a quick moment between the hours of 8:45 AM and 3:00 PM, you are welcome to pull into the circle. PLEASE DO NOT DOUBLE PARK ALONG THE YELLOW CURB AS THIS IS A FIRE LANE. You are welcome to park on the opposite side (no yellow curb) to pop in to drop off something/sign out your student.

Crossing Guard Update

As of today, we are still looking to widen our pool of candidates for a crossing guard on Dunham Road. Go to this website and search for "crossing guard". If you know of anyone who may be interested, please refer them to this site!

Hours: 7:40-8:30 AM AND 3:15-4:00 PM

SEL - Social Emotional Learning

We will regularly feature our Social Emotional Learning information in our Friday Forecast.

SEL Core Competencies

Social and emotional learning (SEL) enhances students’ capacity to integrate skills, attitudes, and behaviors to deal effectively and ethically with daily tasks and challenges. There are five core competencies that can be taught in many ways across many settings.

We will visit each of 5 Core Competencies in the coming weeks, starting with Self-Awareness.

The ability to accurately recognize one’s own emotions, thoughts, and values and how they influence behavior. The ability to accurately assess one’s strengths and limitations, with a well-grounded sense of confidence, optimism, and a “growth mindset.”

  • Identifying emotions
  • Accurate self-perception
  • Recognizing strengths
  • Self-confidence
  • Self-efficacy
