CSE Mini Spartan Weekly
Your Once-a-Week Update from Cold Spring Elementary
Oct 13th, 2017
From the Principal's Desk
Greetings from CSE,
The upcoming weeks have a few adjustments to the "Normal" Schedule. Today, your students had an "EARLY RELEASE". Early Release days our used for important tasks at school. Often these are used for professional development days, curriculum coordination and program improvement. Today, staff was exploring updates to our English Language Arts program and a potential curriculum adoption. This would not be possible without scheduled early outs.
Next week is FALL BREAK. You may hear this day also called MEA Break. Next week is a perfect time for a couple of days off from school. We hope you and your family take some time to relax and connect. Our educators will be doing the same.
There will be no Friday Update next week due to the scheduled Fall Break! Enjoy your time!
Have a fabulous week!
Sincerely,
Dr. Eric Skanson

THE DEETS, THE CSE STUDENT NEWSCAST!
What is the Deets? The Deets is a the student lead CSE Weekly Newscast. The Deets is part of the Explore program at CSE!
Here are some of the Deets from the week.
EXPLORE!
Explore is a grade 3-5 student Voice and Choice program. Students are able to enroll in "Elective" Type classes four times per year. Explore is designed to let students dabble in different focus areas such as: Career Exploration, Hobbies, Wellness and Performance.
What are some examples?
Each EXPLORE Class focuses on one of the four core areas and meet twice a week for 1/2 hour. This fall we offered:
Wood Working, Team Sports, Newscasting, Coding, Theater, Games with Friends, Magic, Engineering, Claymation, Yoga and Choir. These are just some of the great examples of ways kids get engaged and Explore their future.
Tony Wagner says, "Play leads to Passion and Passion leads to Purpose" Our hope is to let gets find their passion and purpose at CSE! More Questions? What to be involved at a parent? Contact Princpal Skanson (skanosone@rocori.k12.mn.us)
