Iridium
By Cameron and Tucker
Information
- Discovered by a British chemist Smithson Tennant as well as osmium
in the residue left when crude platinum is dissolved by aqua regia in 1803.USES: bonded with other metals to form stronger metal alloys, spark plugs, and certain ink pins, and satellites.
Iridium is a brittle, hard lustrous, dense transition metal and is part of the Platinum family. It is unaffected by air, water and even acids.
-When bonding with other elements, it can have diferent numbers of valence electrons.
