A message from our principal
A tradition at Holy Family Catholic School has been to “bury” or put away the ALLELUIA during Lent. I would like to point out that during the season of Lent, we do not sing the word Alleluia at Mass. It is considered an Easter word and by not using it for 40 days, perhaps we will come to appreciate more just how joyful this acclamation is.
We tell the children that it is a popular custom to “bury” the Alleluia as Lent begins so that it can be “dug up” once again on Easter Sunday.
We have six weeks to concentrate on the conversion of heart, the turning back to or moving closer to God. We might ask ourselves a simple question: “What do I need to stop doing or start doing to be the very good person God made me?”
Congratulations to our 2nd Graders who will be making their First Reconciliation this evening! What a wonderful way to begin the Lenten Season.
Peace in Christ,
Dr. John Shreve
