A Note from Mrs. Bleggi

12 Ways to Manage Your Stress

It’s been a year since COVID-19 hit and changed the world as we know it - from work to social interactions, childcare to vacation and events. And, as the pandemic continues, it’s normal to feel tired and discouraged.

Moving forward through challenges like this requires resilience. The good news is that resilience starts with a mindset that anyone can learn.

First, make a list of the things that trigger your stress. Then, do something about the things you CAN change or eliminate. Finally, learn to deal successfully with the things you CANNOT change. Here are 12 ideas to get you started:

  1. Engage in regular physical exercise, if you are able.

  2. Write down 3 things you are thankful for at the beginning or end of each day.

  3. Get things off your mind by talking to a trusted friend or writing in a journal.

  4. Play calm background music to help create a peaceful environment at work or home.

  5. Resist too much caffeine and sugar.

  6. Relax your standards. Don’t sweat the small stuff, and choose your battles carefully. The world won’t end if the dishes aren’t done.

  7. Inhale as you count to 4; Exhale as you count to 4. Continue for 4 minutes.

  8. Take a “mini-vacation” as you focus on a peaceful picture in your mind.

  9. Do at least one thing each day that you enjoy.

  10. Keep a to-do list rather than relying on your memory.

  11. Think good thoughts. Repeat a positive mantra, affirmation, or spiritual thought.

  12. Live in the present and remember who you are - living your life with purpose.

Take care,

Deni Bleggi

We Need YOU!

In recent years, Gulledge Elementary PTA has progressed in our number of PTA MEMBERS but the number of ACTIVE VOLUNTEERS has decreased significantly. We have many empty spots on our PTA for next year and this is our plea. As many of the PTA Board members begin to leave their positions, the PTA needs new families to step up for Gulledge to maintain our fun events with volunteers and continue to raise those fundraising dollars needed to make those fun events happen. With so many open positions, now is the time to join our board and learn from the experienced volunteers before they move on.

Gulledge Elementary PTA is in need of engaged parents willing to serve! Lots of heart is all that is needed!

Please complete this survey and share what you are willing to offer, and we will find the place for you.

Thank you.

Deni Bleggi, Principal & Beth Noon, PTA President
