Where'd You Go Bernadette
Where'd You Go by Maria Semple takes place in Seattle,Washington.
In the novel,Bernadette Fox is the protagonist, she also has a daughter named,Bee. She was often described as a antisocial and selfish woman, because of her physical appearance and her lack of attendance to her daughter's school activities leading her to have conflict with other mothers of her daughter's classmates at Galer Street high school. From the reader's point of view,we come to understand that Bernadette has a different kind of style, this adding to the idea that the other moms dont like her. Despite the fact that the other mothers dont accept Bernadette,Bee sees her mother as a true bestfriend.
One of the main themes running throughout the novel is relationships. Relationships the novel aim on are the relationships of a family and friendships. Bernadette antisocial propensities prevent her from making any friends, but instead give her enemies.
The novel by Maria Semple, Where'd You Go Bernadette, is thrilling and descriptive, although it takes form of documents and other articles. Even though the style the book is written in is unique, Semple tells a truly fascinating story. Throughout the novel, emotions, and feelings are discovered. For example, Bernadette's miscarriages and loss of job puts her in many hard and emotional situations. I highly recommend this novel to all young adults of either gender, it is a great read, that will have your attention for hours.
