Happy Holidays & Welcome Back!
Homer-Center Elementary School December 4, 2020
Dear Families,
While we are returning to school five-days per week we are operating under much stricter mandates than before Thanksgiving. If the building has two cases we must return to a remote setting for at least three days. We also must attest to the fact that all individuals within the building are wearing approved face coverings and that students wash their hands and use sanitizer multiple times during the day. We also have rooms and cohorts designed to maximize space between students. This includes the lunch period. We have plenty of masks if anyone is in need.
There is so much information being shared by the Department of Health (DOH) and the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). I have included some helpful links below for your information.
Please help us remain in school by staying safe, abiding by mandates, and keeping us informed of any illness, quarantines, or close contacts within your family. I want to thank the families of Homer-Center Elementary School who have been amazing and transparent with our office. You have called in, kept us informed, and helped us keep our school up and running. Thank you.
One last request, if your child/children, traveled out of state AND are twelve years or older please let us know so we can make arrangements for them educationally to abide by the most recent order.
Additionally, if you are interested in shifting your child/children to online learning until the end of the second quarter, which is January 22, 2020, please let the office know. More details are provided below. We will keep online enrollment open given the substantial level within the county.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Holly B. Rougeaux, Principal

Symptoms of COVID and Precautions - School Nurse Mrs. Johnson
"Hello parents,
I just wanted to remind you all of how important it is to monitor your children for signs and symptoms of illness. With our district being more strict, that means that school screenings will be as well. Please be aware that COVID-19 affects everyone differently. Although your child may not have the typical fever, but have a cough or sore throat (or other symptoms), it is important to keep them home and monitor them until seen by their physician or symptoms improve. COVID-19 in children and teenagers can present as the following symptoms: fever, chills, cough, nasal congestion/runny nose, new loss of taste/smell, sore throat, shortness or breath or difficulty breathing, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomachache, fatigue, headache, muscle/body aches, decreased appetite. Also remember, if one person is being tested in your home, all family members must quarantine until test results come back. Also, please remember that proper fitting masks should cover both nose and mouth of students. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns." Amanda Johnson, LPN
