News and Updates from FSMA
Peace Education
"Averting war is the work of politicians; establishing peace is the work of education." Maria Montessori
In each classroom, you will find evidence of the peace education principles that guide our teaching and learning. Children are learning about important peacemakers, they use a Peace Table for working out disagreements, they talk about what it means to be a peaceful human being, and more. At FSMA, we believe that it is important to focus on and teach peace early. All of our classrooms help to prepare our children to be peace-seekers...at home, ask your child what it means to be peaceful and you might be surprised by their knowledge.
Modification Update
As you know, FSMA has applied for a modification to our charter which would increase the amount of students/classes in the 2016-2017 school year and add 7th grade in 2017-2018 and 8th grade the following year. We are in the midst of the state's approval process. There is still time for you to have your voice heard - you can send in public comment through our website or you can attend a public hearing on March 7th - 5:00 p.m. at the Carvel Building (2 blocks down from FSMA).
Thank you to everyone who has offered support about the expansion of FSMA!
