Chávez Cheetah Chat
Cheetah Chat for 1/5/2024
Dear Chávez Families,
It was fantastic to welcome kids back this week and kick off 2024 with all our learners. Staff took extra time this week to help kids adjust to back-at-school routines, reconnect with one another and celebrate being part of the Chávez community. Next week, our whole school will take some time to rotate through different settings in the building and review expectations for how we conduct ourselves so that Chávez continues to be a great place to learn and to teach.
Our students continue to create beautiful work and I try to include examples in the newsletter often. Please check out the watercolors, poetry and snowman art in this edition and watch for ether examples of student work in future newsletters.
The winter weather is coming! Please see below about how to stay informed and help your child to dress appropriately for the weather, as we aim for outdoor recess whenever possible.

ParentSquare Coming Soon
A change is coming to the way we communicate with families. Soon we will be using ParentSquare as our communication platform and aligning it to automatically populate new and important information to our website. You do not need to do anything at this time, but in the future will have access to the application for mobile devices that will allow you to set some personal preferences for receiving newsletters and other school communications.
Thanks for all you do you support our kids, staff and the work we do here. Chávez is a great place to teach and learn.
With Gratitude,
Principal Kevin

INCLEMENT WEATHER - BE PREPARED
Winter Weather is Here!
Winter is here and with the colder weather comes potential snow and ice. There are several ways to find out when hazardous weather conditions close or delay schools or alter bus routes.
How to find out if there is a change:
- Check the district website, www.4j.lane.edu
- Follow 4J social media: Facebook, X @4Jweather & @4Jschools
- Tune in to local radio and television news stations
- Text message from the district (If you are concerned about the weather and have not received a text by 6:30 a.m., check the 4J website, Facebook page, radio or TV.)
No news = no change. School closures and other changes are decided early in the morning and announced by all of these methods before 6:30 a. M. If schools and buses are on their regular schedules, there will not be an announcement.
