Environment 1: Practitioners provide services and supports in natural and inclusive environment during daily routines and activities to promote the child's access to and participation in learning experiences.
Families 4: Practitioners and the family work together to create outcomes or goals, develop individualized plans, and implement practices that address the family's priorities and concerns and the child's strengths and needs.
Instruction 5: Practitioners embed instruction within and across routines, activities, and environments to provide contextually relevant learning opportunities.
"Families and I work together to identify child goals/needs and relevant routines the family might consider embedding home activities into. When choosing an activity we work to find things they can do around the home and use materials they already have. This has been working especially well with families as we meet virtually. I am able to send the agreed upon activity and they let me know how it goes. Some families send photos or videos. This helps me to see progress and gives us talking points during our next session together. I have found that each family responds differently with communication, so I have tailored my communication based on their needs. Some various ways I communicate home activities with families include; text messages, Remind app, email and Google Classroom. (Google Classroom gives us a great opportunity to keep information in once place and is easy for everyone to access. This also gives the families a place to respond with information or questions they have.)"
Videos Below - This family discussed with Missy, their ECSE teacher, the use of the Home Activity Hidden Objects and Home Activity What's in the Bag during a home visit. During their daily routine at home they embedded this activity to support their child's learning.
