What is Shaken Baby Syndrome?

Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) also known as abusive head trauma, is more of a concern than you might think. In the U.S. alone there are approximately 1,400 cases per year. The causes of shaking a baby can range from minor to major injuries such as hearing loss and permanent blindness. These are dangerous factors and should be taken seriously.

How Can We Stop SBS?

It is absolutely normal for a new parent to get stressed and frustrated while caring for a young one. However, shaking your baby is not expectable. Abusive head trauma should be taken seriously. "Take a break don't shake" is a motto used to tell parents it's okay to take time for yourself too, in order to keep both you and your baby safe. Be aware of friends and family that are willing to help take care of the child if the caregiver needs a time out. Use the community and others, so w3e can all help stop Shaken Baby Syndrome.
