DAVIS HILL COMMUNITY UPDATE
JANUARY 29, 2024
Dear Davis Hill Community,
We had a blast on Friday with our first Student Council themed Spirit Day, as our staff and students 'switched' outfits for the day. Lots of great outfits and smiles all around!
This Friday we will have our Food Pantry Donation Day (Theme: Favorite Jersey Day) and School Store.
Please don't forget that Wednesday (January 31st) is an Early Release Day. Dismissal will be at 12:30 (and there is no Holden Recreation AfterSchool Program).

VALENTINE’S DAY NOTE/ REMINDER FOOD POLICY
With Valentine’s Day approaching, I want to remind everyone about School Committee Policy 6619 Life Threatening Allergies, which was approved by the School Committee in August of 2015. This policy states that, “In response to the presence of food-based allergies, parents/guardians may not send outside food/candy/drink to share in the classroom. As part of a District-wide initiative to discourage the use of food as a reward, both teachers and parents/guardians are encouraged to recognize and celebrate students by methods that do not involve food. For this same reason, any projects or classroom activities should also avoid the use of food items”.
If your child’s class is exchanging Valentines, we ask that you strictly adhere to this policy. This is a school-wide rule and no Valentines that have a food ‘treat’ will be exchanged in the classroom. Your child’s teacher may have additional requests/ instructions if their classroom is exchanging this year (Please contact your child's teacher regarding their specific plans for the occasion).

NEWS FROM THE ART ROOM
Hello DH Families! We have been hard at work on our Square 1 Art projects since we returned from Winter break. Square 1 Art is the fundraiser that allows us to buy all of the great paper, paint, and art materials that we use each year. Students have the option to do a take-home Square 1 in addition to their class submission. This is always a great chance to make an artwork with a younger sibling, parent, or grandparent! All take-home work is due back to the art room by Friday, February 2nd, 2024. Thank you for supporting the art room!
Please click on the link below for a Google Doc of upcoming events! This will be our primary link for DHCalendar Events. Thank you!
Dragon Families, Warm up with some Brilla Coffee + support the PTA!
We are kicking off our Brilla Coffee Bag fundraiser, which is an opportunity for families to purchase amazing Brilla coffee and also benefit the Davis Hill PTA. Over 30% of the sales directly benefit Davis Hill programs!
A flyer is going home with students (and also attached here!) with Brilla's most-loved flavors and roasts.
Orders are due 1/31, with two convenient delivery options. Delivery will be just in time for Valentine's day, on Feb 12th.
