Reflections from the week of 2-6-17
Last Friday, several educators in CSISD participated in the "Nine Things Culturally Relevant Educators Do" webinar, and it was enlightening. The presenter discussed strategies for us to easily implement like incorporating high-engagement strategies such as writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading, providing students the opportunity to move and collaborate with their peers, utilizing the talents of all students, the importance of relational capacity were a few of the strategies discussed. Often, the misconception is that students who are the hardest to reach need educators who either look like them or who have had similar experiences, which is a fallacy! Students need teachers who genuinely care about them, who will not put up with their excuses, and who will hold them accountable.
Though this time of year presents its own problems, what we do daily makes a difference in the lives of our students. When the days get a little rocky, remember why you began. Expect the best from all students and shine bright!
If you are scheduled to have a 45 minute evaluation, be sure you are knowledgeable of the T-TESS rubric and contact your appraiser with any questions that you may have. Your ratings for the four domains will be guided by the rubric. Remember to upload your evidence through TalentEd portfolio (Uploading Evidence in TalentEd)
