End of Year Events Ahead

Black and Gold Day: Friday, 6/3
8th Grade Semi-Formal: Thursday, 6/9
Picnic and Day of Awesomeness: Tuesday, 6/14

Criteria to Attend the Events:

All students have the opportunity to attend the end-of-year events!

Students must earn 40 points to attend events.

10 Points for 80% attendance-

10 Points for less than 5 minor write-ups-

10 Points for Passing 7/8 classes-

10 points for completed Saturday school and Zero Out of School Suspensions

Bonus Points

Students have until the day before the events to earn the 40 points! This criteria is different from previous expectations. This allows more students the opportunity to participate in End of Year Events.

After School Tutoring Clinics

Are you struggling in class? Do you have make-up work and need help? Do you need extra help with a tough assignment? Starting next week, January 25th there will be clinics available after school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3pm-5pm. Reading and ELA clinic will be on Tuesdays with Ms. Mazzochi, Social Studies and Science Clinic will be on Wednesdays v with Mrs. Troy, and Math clinic will be on Thursdays with Mrs. Lee. Transportation (the late bus) will be available at 5pm or you can leave by 4pm if you have a ride home. Please fill out the google form in your grade level Canvas labeled After School Clinic before attending. You may not stay unless you completed this form and received a reply from the staff running the clinic that day by email. PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL AGAIN, You may not stay for clinic unless you completed this form and received a reply from the staff running the clinic that day by email. What is Safe2SaySomething?

Safe2Say Something is a youth violence prevention program run by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. The program teaches youth and adults how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and to “say something” BEFORE it is too late.

How does Safe2Say Something Work?

Submit an anonymous tip report through the Safe2SaySomething system
Crisis center reviews, assesses and processes all submissions
Crisis center sends all submissions to school administration and/or law enforcement for intervention
If needed, crisis center may contact tipster anonymously through the app

ELIGIBILITY FOR SPECIAL SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

All Saturday school hours must be completed prior to the activity.
CANNOT have one (1) Out of School Suspension (OSS) 40 days prior to the activity.
CANNOT have three (3) Out of School Suspensions (OSS) for one year.
CANNOT be failing two (2) or more classes.

Armstrong Support Groups Starting Soon!

Armstrong teachers and staff will be starting student support groups shortly. Below is the permission slip being sent home for students being considered for group. Some group topics may include the following:

Friendship
Self-Esteem
Social Skills
Decision Making
Stress Buster
Communication Skills
Organization
Anger Management

Cell Phones!!!

Cell phones are not permitted at Armstrong. Cell phones will be confiscated if they are seen.

If a cell phone is confiscated, it will only be returned to a parent/guardian between the hours of:

7:50am to 9:00am and 2:15pm to 3:30 pm.

No exceptions will be made.
