BOOK FAIR

PLEASE STOP BY THE COLLIER CENTER WITH YOUR STUDENTS EVEN IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCE. Our Annual Book Fair will be held at the Parish Collier Center during the Thursday and Friday conferences. They will also be open Sat., Feb. 10th from 10:30am – 3pm and on Sunday the 11th after both Masses. Vercillo’s Book Store will have some of their merchandise available as well. We will have games, prizes and popcorn. We would love to see you!!!

POLICY OF THE MONTH

To help alleviate any confusion, we would like to clarify free dress rules and regulations.

Free Dress for Uniforms at Church: Students who wear their Visitation Catholic STEM Academy uniform to church (whichever church the family attends) on the first Saturday or Sunday of the month may wear free dress the following Monday. A note from the students’ parent must accompany the student and be given to their teacher in either case.

T-Shirt Tuesday: Every Tuesday, students may wear Viking CYO T-shirts or sweatshirts (Red or Blue) instead of the Visitation uniform sweater. Students are still required to wear the uniform pants or skirt with the t-shirt or sweatshirt. Spirit wear shall include: Visitation Viking T-shirts/sweatshirts, fleeces, pull-overs, embroidered school sweatshirts, monogrammed sweaters and/or fleece vests, etc. Spirit wear can be purchased via Dennis or Ink, Inc. in Tacoma through the school office. Spirit wear may be only worn on Tuesday Spirit Days.

Free Dress First Tuesdays: The first Tuesday of every month is a free dress day if students bring a can of food for the Visitation Parish Food Bank. Please see Free Dress rules above.

NO SCHOOL

Friday, February 16; Faculty Retreat Day, Monday, Feb. 19; President’s Day and NOON DISMISSAL on Friday, Feb. 23; In-service on Math Development.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIEL

For Sofia Moya, mother to Alyssa (3rd) and Arcel (5th), will be held at Visitation on Tuesday, Feb., 13th at 9am. Reception will follow.

ASH WEDNESDAY

Mass will be held at 12:45 and 7pm. Full Dress uniform is required for student Mass.

Valentine's Day Celebrations

There will be no distribution of Valentines or parties on Wednesday, February 14th. Valentine celebrations will be held on Tuesday, February 13th.

MENU CHANGE

Mrs. Ceci will be out Wed., Feb., 14th , so we have changed the menu to accommodate volunteers helping in the kitchen. The menu will be cheese pizza, carrots, peaches, cookies and milk. Thank you!

CHOIR

We are so excited to bring Choir back to VCSA!! Choir will begin next Monday, Feb., 12th. There will be no charge to be in the choir. Choir is open to grades 3-8 and they will meet after school on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:15pm – 4:15pm. Our instructor is Mrs. Traci Clements and she asks that students please bring a snack as there will be a short break. If you are interested in singing for Mass and special occasions, please call the school office or email Mrs. Clements at….trezzelina@outlook.com

AUCTION….SAVE THE DATE

Our 28th Annual Gala Auction will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018. The doors open at 5:30pm and will be held at the Courtyard Marriott Tacoma Downtown. This is our largest fundraiser and we need your attendance, ideas, donations and help to make this a success. More information to follow. For your convenience, there are Donation and Sponsorship forms and letters in the office to help you with your procuring items for the Auction. If we can help, please don’t hesitate to call and ask questions.

REPORTING

We track parent volunteer hours using the “pink” Volunteer Commitment Log that can be found in the office or on the school website www.visitationstemacademy.org. If you have volunteered and not turned in your form, please do so asap. Thank you! J

CONGRATULATIONS

To our 2nd graders that received their 1ST CONFESSION on Tuesday. A big thank you to Amber Goldade for helping to prepare our students!!

PTO IS LOOKING AHEAD

Our school is hosting the Parish Lenten Meatless Supper on Friday, 2/23/18 from 5:30-7pm at the Lower Hall. We will be there at 4:15 to set up. We need volunteers to help set up, serve, and clean up afterwards. We need food donations delivered to the lower hall by 5p.m. Please call Jennifer Barfield with any questions at 206 351-5405
