Kickball Recap and Men's Wiffle Ball Tournament

This year's Kickball tournament was an overwhelming success! The 5 teams raised over $16,000 for Northville Civic Concern ($6,000 more than last year). Congrats to the winning team - Post Bar! To date, from the money raised, $1000 was spent on Diapers and Formula for families at Civic Concern. Additional funds were used to support our Backpack Drive.

MSL Juniors

We have some exciting Junior opportunities coming this fall. Here are a few things planned for fall:

Clothing Drive

With the help of the Northville Stallions & Colts Cheerleaders, we will be conducting a clothing drive. We will be asking for clothing donations and the juniors will help sort clothing by gender and size. Northville Civic Concern families will be able to select items for their families. So as you are cleaning out closets and dressers for the new school year, please consider this opportunity!

Project Night Night

Project Night Night donates over 25,000 Night Night Packages each year, free of charge, to homeless children who need childhood essentials to feel secure, cozy, ready to learn, and significant. Each Night Night Package contains a new security blanket, an age-appropriate children's book, and a stuffed animal -- all nestled inside of a new canvas tote bag. By providing objects of reliable comfort, Project Night Night reduces trauma and advances the emotional and cognitive well-being of the children they serve.

As a service project, we will be building night packages for children in our area.

Camperships

MSL gave out 3 camps to kids for a total of $500. One little boy always wanted to go to the Real Life Farm and at a cost of $300 never thought it would be possible. He was so excited to have the opportunity to attend!

Backpack Drive

Once again we participated in a backpack drive to support the children of Northville Civic Concern. This year we partnered with Ward Church and Oakpointe Church to build 1000 backpacks for kids in Metro Detroit. MSL donated $1000 to the cause and distributed 100 backpacks for Northville Civic Concern. This was quite an operation, with MSL members doing a lot of heavy lifting in picking up supplies and taking them over to Ward Church. We also had members and juniors at Ward on July 31st packing the backpacks. Backpacks were then taken to OLV to have additional supplies put inside. All of the bags were tagged with the children's names. From Kickball Tourney funds, we were able to include a $35 gift card to Shoe Carnival in each backpack so they can get new shoes for the school year as well! Thanks to Steffanie Porter, Jen Mullan, Pam McLoughlin, Bridget Drzewicki, Michelle Gawne, Anne Topolski, Danielle Currie, Brenda Suiter, Laura Asmussen, Laura Zuidema, Lynn Slagle, Karen Martin and your children, for making the Backpack Drive such a huge success!

Membership & Financials

We are officially a 501(c)(3)!!! All money donated thus far (including dues) are tax deductible. Also, Company Match will be available, including dues, so if your company offers that, please consider matching for MSL!

Membership Renewal info will be coming soon, so be on the lookout for a letter regarding that in the next month. Going forward, renewals will take place in the month you signed up.
