Join Us for the Wilmot Scholastic Book Fair!
The annual Scholastic Book Fair is October 12-14, and 16, 2022. We hope this year's fair will help make our children Bolder Prouder Stronger READERS!
The schedule for the Book Fair is:
October 12, 2022 - 2 - 5pm
October 13, 2022 - 8am - 7:30pm (students will go with their class during the school day)
October 14, 2022 - 8am - 5pm (students will go with their class during the school day)
October 16, 2022 - 11am - 4pm
This year Scholastic is allowing parents to set up an e-wallet for their students so that the children can digitally purchase books when they visit the Book Fair during the school day without having to bring in cash or a credit card. Please note that this is optional, and you can either send cash with your student or your child can create a wishlist and you can come to the Fair after-school hours and purchase the books in person. No checks will be accepted, just cash, credit card, or e-wallet. Learn more about the e-wallet here: e-wallet link, as well as in the flier that was sent home with your children a couple of weeks ago.
School Pictures and Retakes (2nd posting)
We will offer picture retakes and an opportunity for photos for those who were absent on picture day. This will take place on October 25.
Important Reminders
- If your child needs cough drops during the day, please send them in a bag with your child's name on it. These need to be housed with Mrs. Martinez in the nurse's office. Students should not take cough drops on their own.
- If your child arrives late for school an adult must come into the building and sign them in.
- Please send students with utensils and napkins for lunch (Marla's includes these in um Lunches). We keep extras on hand but have a limited supply.
Halloween 2022 (1st posting)
This year, we will be celebrating Halloween at Wilmot on Monday, October 31. Below is important information to help make this a fun and safe day for everyone.
Students may not wear group costumes that exclude other students. Our goal is to make this an inclusive day.
Costume Information:
- Students will wear costumes to school as we cannot easily assist students in changing into costumes during the school day.
- Masks (for costumes) should come to school in a bag to be worn only for the parade, pictures, and parties. Students should not wear masks on the bus or when walking to school.
- Toy weapons are strictly prohibited.
- Please send a bag for your child's costume should they choose to take it off during the day.
- If you need assistance in providing your child with a Halloween costume, please let me know
Parade:
- We will hold the Halloween parade at 8:55 am, weather permitting.
- Click below to see the parade route.
5th grade will lead the parade (starting at the gym doors), followed by 4th grade
3rd grade will join the parade at the art door (following 4th grade)
2nd grade and 1st grade will follow 3rd grade from the west GMA doors
Kindergarten will exit from their classrooms and will follow 1st grade
All students will walk one time around the school entering and exiting the same door
- Parents/guests should not stop the parade, approach the children, or ask students to step out of the parade for a photo.
- We ask that all guests remain outside during the parade.
Families who are not comfortable sending their child in costume, please reach out to your child's teacher so that we can be sensitive to you or your child's feelings about dressing up for Halloween. We want everyone at Wilmot to feel comfortable.
