Alcohol Prohibition
Amendment 18
What does it mean?
It is illegal to buy or sell Alcohol anywhere in the U.S.
Protests Against Alcohol Led by Women
Women detested the presence of Alcohol in their husbands lives because it made them less likely to do their jobs, more abusive, and made their home lives unpleasant.
Men Reacting to 18th Amendment
Men were outraged that their booze was taken away.
Carrie A. Nation
Carrie A. Nation was a woman who protested Alcohol by taking hatchets into bars and beating the counter tops.
Why is it important?
It is important because it started the creation of illegal alcohol, or Moonshine. NASCAR was also created when citizens tried to create fast cars to transport Moonshine and run from the cops. Nobody actually followed the 18th Amendment, which led to it being repealed from the Constitution. The 18th Amendment is currently the only amendment that has ever been repealed.
