Autumn Newsletter
Welcome Back!
I hope you have had a great Summer and are ready for some more great music making this Autumn! It's time to blow away the cobwebs and get your teeth into some new music.
Summer Concert News
Holy Trinity Church have told us that they had a bumper year at their annual Summer Fayre this year and raised over £4000 for the church. I'm sure it was helped because we were there and not because of the good weather! We managed to raise £53.71 ourselves without treading on the church's fundraising, so that is really good news. Thank you to everyone who played, watched and joined in!

I know...Christmas is ages away......isn't it?
I can hear your groan! We have some new music on offer in the run up to Christmas and a more classical theme is on the cards this time, leaving room for some fun pieces in a Spring concert. The Christmas concert will again be at Christ Church C of E Primary School, Skipton and this time we are looking into a Sunday afternoon slot. We should be able to confirm the date for your diaries by the end of September.
Our unofficial photographer
We are very lucky to know a local amateur photographer called Jamie Fletcher who has been to a couple of rehearsals to take some photos recently. In fact, we have used one of his photos as the cover picture on the Facebook page. He has struggled with the inside photos due to the poor lighting but he will be back as soon as he can to take indoor shots. I'm sure you will agree that the ones he's taken are great!
Funding News
Over the summer we have been kindly given £170 by Skipton Town Council to pay for 10 more music stands. That makes 30 altogether so by my reckoning we can take 60 members.....if we share stands! A thank you letter is on its way to them.
Every Vote Helps...
As you may have heard Skipton Building Society are celebrating their 160th birthday by giving out 160 grants of £500 each. Around 350 community groups over the UK have been shortlisted and the 160 groups who gain the most votes obtain the grant. We are very lucky to have been shortlisted so please vote for us! It only takes a couple of seconds so please make your vote count at: http://skiptonbig160.co.uk/apply-for-funding/whos-applying/central/skipton-community-orchestra/. It is one vote per IP (internet provider) address so feel free to vote at work, free wifi hot spots etc. Oh, and don't forget that family and friends can vote for us too!! We will let you know how we get on as voting finishes on 19th September, with the results out in October 2013.
