Vote YES Today, November 2, for Tax Neutral Facilities Improvements

As our community grows, so do our infrastructure needs. We have the opportunity to make significant improvements with a tax neutral bond. This would allow Pella Middle School and Jefferson to connect with a shared space for band, choir, and orchestra. There is also an early childhood center that would open up space in our elementary classrooms and support our community's childcare needs.

Missing/Late Assignments Decreased by 50% First Quarter

Exciting news! The total number of missing/late assignments quarter one this year in comparison to last was cut in half! We cannot say the improvement is solely our new communication system for missing/late assignments, but we feel confident it has been beneficial. Thank you for continued support to help your students with being proactive and putting first things first.

Exciting new FCS class, Friends and Food Trucks, is a HIT!

Pictured below are the model food trucks created as the pinnacle project of this new class. Students received project feedback from Robert Sales, Pella High School class of 2016, and owner operator of "Rob's Mini Donuts". During the personal development unit, students learned about their values, goals, personalities, and learning styles, and the second unit focused on relationships and working with others. Family types, friends, time management, and communication wrapped up this exciting new course!

The Counselor Connection

A survey was sent out to all students asking if they are interested in joining a small group counseling experience. These small group experiences are part of our overall school counseling program curriculum. They will incorporate using the 7 habits of Leader In Me. The possibilities for small groups are as follows.

- Friendships-Seek First to Understand, then Be Understood

- Who Am I? -Be Proactive, You’re in Charge

- Sharpen the Saw-coping/stress management

- Put 1st Things 1st- prioritizing, time management

A reminder about schedule changes...

Students may apply for a schedule change through the school counseling office. Schedule changes after the first five days of the quarter/semester require approval from the principal or dean. Approvals for schedule changes will be given on the merit of each case and not be automatic. We do not accept teacher or period of the day requests.
