A Note from Ms. Owens

Hello Charger Families,

Today, students received baby bottles to bring home to collect money for The Women's Center, an organization serving women who find themselves in a crisis pregnancy. The center connects women with social services for housing, financial and medical support. It also provides these new mothers with items such as formula, diapers, clothing, cribs, strollers, etc.

During this week, we have also arrived at progress report time for our first trimester. For families with students in grades 3 through 8, look for an orange sheet coming home today. After you have logged into PowerSchool and reviewed your student's grades as of this week, please sign the sheet and return it to school.

On Tuesday night, I had the privilege of attending the Confirmation meeting for our 8th grade families. I want to reiterate the message from last week that this final sacrament of initiation offers the opportunity for our students and their parents to deepen their relationship with the Holy Spirit and strengthen their faith as a family.

Thank you for all you do to support the St. Catherine community! Have a great rest of the week!

Kristine Owens

Student Lunches & Student Absences

We are asking for family help in two particular areas: student lunches and student absences.

Student Lunches

  • Please be sure that your student's lunch bag includes the utensils they will need for lunch. We do have some plastic ware and napkins available in a pinch, but these are an "emergency" supply.
  • Unfortunately, we are not able to warm up student lunches. Please help your student remember microwaving their lunches is not an option we can offer.

Student Absences

  • If your student is going to be absent, it is imperative that the office be notified. Parents are welcome to contact teachers to facilitate communication about missed work or about picking up homework at the end of the day; however, the office is where official attendance records are managed.

5th Annual FSA Trunk or Treat

St. Catherine families are invited to register their cars, vans or SUVs for this year's Trunk or Treat event the evening of Saturday, October 26! Families with registered vehicles can then visit cars for Halloween treats. There's also a Chili Cook Off for the competitive chefs out there!

7th Grade Confirmation Retreat

On October 18, our 7th graders will participate in their Confirmation Retreat. Students will be going to Holy Fire Chicago at Credit Union 1 Arena (formerly UIC Pavilion). More details are included at the Holy Fire website and on the permission slip.

Tuesday Hot Lunch Ordering

The link for placing hot lunch orders is below. Please remember that ordering closes at noon the day before delivery.

There will, of course, be days when parents have ordered a hot lunch and their child is absent. On those days, parents (or another designated person) are welcome to pick up the child's lunch. In order for this to happen, parents must notify the school of the hot lunch pick-up prior to 11 AM and then the actual lunch must be picked up before 12:30 PM. We cannot keep lunches beyond that or send them home with students due to food safety regulations.

If your ticket is pulled and you are present at the drawing, you will win a one-hour Happy Hour for 20 people at Bar 106. You can get more details by clicking on the banner just below. Keep buying those tickets!
