Winter Reading Challenges

Bluebonnet Books -- This program is coming to an end soon! All 3rd - 5th graders were challenged last fall to read 5 Bluebonnet nominees by Jan. 30. Those readers get to vote in the STATEWIDE children's choice contest on January 30/31! But even if a student reads and responds to just ONE Bluebonnet book, he/she earns a ticket in Northwood's Bluebonnet drawing. We will be giving away a huge stuffed dog, a boxed set of Harry Potter books, and more!

2 x 2 Books -- Starting in February! In this favorite annual reading program, every K - 2nd class will be challenged to read all 20 "2x2" books by March 10. The 2x2 list is announced each year by the Texas Library Association and consists of books recommended for 2 years old through 2nd graders. They are always excellent books and Northwood kids love to try to read 'em all!

Battle of the Books -- 4th graders, get ready! Northwood will again send a team to the annual NEISD Battle of the Books in May. Students will compete to answer questions about the 16 books on the Battle list. In May, we'll have a school-wide Battle between 4th grade classes to determine the team that will go to district competition.
