Attendance - Things you need to know!

Spring is the time of the year when absences start to pile up. Be sure you are aware of the consequences for your student missing too much school:

3 or more unexcused absences in a 4 week period - warning letter sent home.

7 or more unexcused absences in a 6-month period - warning letter sent home and Behavior Intervention Plan meeting called with the parents, student, and assistant principal.

10 or more unexcused absences in a 6 month period - truancy charges are filed. Parent, student and school administrator will be summons to appear in truancy court.

Our campus goal is to reach 96% attendance each day. If a student is at school at 10:00 am (2nd/6th period attendance times), we receive funding for that student for that day. If they are not, we do not receive funding. For this reason, we ask that you plan all non-medical absences from school for times after 10:00 am.

Weird, but true, attendance fact: If your student is present for any part of the school day and leaves for a medical appointment, they won't get counted absent for that day as long as they bring a note. If they are absent for the entire day for a doctor's appointment, they will be counted absent.

Thanks for your support!

Student Holiday on Monday, February 15, 2016! No school on that day!

February's Viking Character Trait is Fairness!

Throughout the month, LVHS teachers and staff will integrate a focus on fairness and bullying prevention into classroom and campus activities. For example, we are looking for creative and outgoing students to share Public Service Announcements each week in February as part of our daily announcements! For parent resources to talk about fairness at home, please click on the link below:

Our goal is to help Lago Vista High School students become role models in our school and community by helping each other take a strong stand against the destructive decision to use drugs and alcohol. We desperately need parent volunteers! Please contact us via email if you are able to help!
