Library & Classroom ELA Book Drop Off
May 5th – May 21st – Library and Classroom ELA books:
- Bins will be place outside the front of the school from 8-3 starting on May 5th and running to May 21st.
- Please place classroom ELA books in the Bin labeled “Classroom ELA books.”
- Please place books in a bag with their ELA teacher’s name on it so books can be returned to the correct teacher.
- Also, please place Library book in the bin labeled “Library Books”.
Library Book Return
Library Book End of Year procedures
Starting Tuesday May 5, library books can be returned to the front of the school daily between 8am and 3 pm in the marked bins. Please make sure it is a library book and not a classroom title. All Collins books have a barcode sticker on the back of the book and a call number label on the spine of the book. Books will be scanned in at least 24 hours after they are turned in. Overdue/check out notices will be emailed weekly on Monday or Tuesday so that you know what has been accounted for. Also, students can see what books they have checked out any time by accessing their account in Destiny, through the district’s SSO system.
If you need to pay for a lost or damaged book, please write a check made out to Collins Intermediate for the exact amount. You must have a driver’s license number and date of birth on the check. Put the check in an envelope with the student’s name and title of the book you are paying for. Secure the envelope and turn it into the paper packet, work return box, also on the front porch of the school. If you find the library book after you have paid for it, it is yours to keep. Refunds will not be available.
Thanks for a great year and have a wonderful summer!
Medicine Distribution
May 14th 12:00 - 3:00 PM – Medicine Distribution
- Parents who wish to pick up their child’s medicine from Nurse Nell will do so on May 14th from 12:00-3:00 PM.
- Distribution will be in the front of the school.
- Parents will pull up, give their child’s name, and wait for the medicine to be placed on a cart.
- Parents will then pull forward, retrieve the medicine and exit.
Refunds
Band teachers have been in contact with parents that paid solo and ensemble dues. We were given options to donate our payment directly to the ensemble or if you would like the camps to reimburse you with a campus check. Please make sure to email Mr. Klaus. Any parents willing to keep their funds with the band program, I have no doubt they will put our investment to very good use.
Mrs. Kline, building secretary, will be in touch with the parents that paid March Madness this coming week.
Thank you for your patience, as the needed staff to complete this task was not been allowed to work from school.
Chromebook Returns / Drop Off
June 1st – June 2nd – Chromebook Drop Off
- Chromebook Drop Off will be in the front of the school.
- Parents will pull up and place the Chromebook on the cart next to their driver side door. Mr. Barnhart will retrieve the Chromebook, verify that the correct Chromebook has been returned, and give a “thumbs up.”
- Once the “thumbs up” has been given please pull forward and exit.
Student's Material Distribution
We have a detailed plan and map utilizing the back of the school for distribution.
The spirit and intent of the two days is to celebrate seeing our precious students and giving them the best "Send Off Celebration" that we can.
Once we have the best plan finalized we will send it to you in a separate email.

Mrs. McCure - Counselor Update
Greetings Collins’ Students and Parents!
I hope all of you are doing well this week. Remember that you can reach out to me at any time by either filling out the Google Form https://tinyurl.com/r6uqwod or emailing me at kmccure@conroeisd.net. If you didn’t have a chance to check out Conroe ISD Social Emotional Learning (SEL) components within the Parent’s Resource page, go to http://bit.ly/conroeisdparent . When you click on your student’s grade level, you will see a SEL piece.
This upcoming week’s theme is Resilience: Learning to be Flexible. This is a great lesson! If anything, since March 6 we have been working on being flexible. We have gone from being on Spring Break, to not coming back just yet, to not coming back until May 4, and to not coming back until the Fall. Keep in mind this is not summer time, but still school time. It is tempting to think we are done with the beautiful weather we have been having! Make sure you are getting out in the sun and soaking up your Vitamin D, doing some kind of exercise whether it is walking, running, or biking, creating a work of art, reading a book, cooking a recipe, cleaning your room, and organizing a closet. In my walks, I have been seeing the great rocks people have been creating and leaving on the paths. Maybe you can try that! There are so many possibilities. Friday is May 1st - May Day! Enjoy the beginnings of May, and enjoy the day!
Collins - make it a great day! - Mrs. McCure
