Guidance News

Spring 2023

Welcome, Ms. Giosa!

Giovanna Giosa has joined the guidance team as interim Adjustment Counselor, covering Ms. Ryan's maternity leave. She graduated from Assumption College in 2017 with a Masters in School Counseling, K-8 and CAGS in School Social Worker / Adjustment Counselor K-12. She has worked in a number of different educational settings in Arizona and Massachusetts. Recently, she worked at Pentucket Regional Middle High School as an Adjustment Counselor to students in the therapeutic and alternative programs. Giovanna is a proud cat-mom to Tobias, a rescue who is as sweet as he is colorful. She enjoys lifting, toning and burning at Pure Barre after work. Giovanna is humbled and excited to be called an Ipswich Tiger during her brief tenure at the high school.

Scheduling for Next Year

Student requests have been entered in Aspen, and the school schedule is being finalized as we speak. We anticipate draft schedules, generated by Aspen, to be distributed to students by late May. At this time, if students are missing classes, or if priority classes have not been scheduled for the student, please have them contact their school counselor. We try to get as many preferred classes for as many students as possible, but in a small school with many courses that only run once, sometimes choices must be made. Students can email their counselors to set up meetings.

Credit for Life Fair

The Credit for Life Fair, sponsored by the Institution for Savings, will be held on Tuesday, May 23 at Masconomet High School. Lunch will be provided.

SAT/ACT Schedule

We recommend that all juniors who plan to apply to four-year schools consider taking a standardized test this spring. Although many colleges have gone test-optional, not all have announced their requirements for this fall, and scores may be needed for some schools.

Q3 and Final Transcripts

Guidance does not automatically send out Q3 transcripts, since most admissions decisions have been made and May 1 is the college commitment deadline. If you are on a college waitlist and would like your Q3 grades sent, please notify your school counselor. We will send a copy of final transcripts to the colleges students have chosen to attend, as indicated in Naviance with the graduating seniors' year-end survey.
