Designing, building & programming robots at APS
Robot Buddies
The APS Robotics Club has been busy working with the new Dash robots. They have learned how to use the 4 Dash apps to program the robots. We don't have any of the Dash xylophones. If we are lucky enough to get any, we will use that app to program Dash to play music too. Ms. Roberts brought her class up to the robotics lab and they have been learning how to use them with the help of their robot buddies. I recently purchased some activity and coding cards. This will give the classes things to do with their robots. We will soon be offering access to the Dash robots to other classes starting with Ms. Maguire.
Jagger
Jagger has been a real leader in the robot buddies program. He has been kind and patient as he has helped the younger students work with their Dash robots. He has really helped make the program start off well. Thank you Jagger!
Tai Chi with Dobi Robot
We have been using the Dobi robot to run Tai Chi with students. It is an attempt to help them center themselves in today's stressful world. Students copy Dobi as he goes through his moves.
Sumo Wrestling with Robots
We are starting sumo wrestling with the LEGO Mindstorms robots. The robots are programmed to stay inside the wrestling ring while trying to push the other robot out.
Amazon Wish List
We could use some of the accessories for our Dash robots. They make a xylophone for the Dash units. Then students can program them to play music. There is also a marker set where the Dash robots can draw. We also always need more LEGO WeDo sets and LEGO Mindstorms sets, as well as other robotics. So I have put together an Amazon Wish List for the APS Robotics Lab. If anyone would like to contribute or knows of a business or organization that would like to support us, it would be greatly appreciated!
