Dr. Robb Gosine

He firmly believes in physical activity as exemplified by his many years as a martial artist, and as an AI researcher he is an explorer and scientist who wants to see what comes next in education. Dr. Gosine firmly believes in empowering others through education; he was licensed in 1993 as a teacher in Trinidad & Tobago, and has a broad base of experience in education in the U.S. which includes teaching, tutoring, and lecturing.
It is important to realize that in 20 years, our children will be running our society, and they will need the tools to be responsible adults, and steadfast stewards of our planet. We can provide students with these tools today by building a wholesome, inclusive learning environment and encouraging them to be who they are in a respectful and supportive manner. Manatee Elementary is just such a place and a great place for a child to begin learning about the world around them. Serving on the SAC not only provides the opportunity to be directly engaged in helping our children grow; it also enables us to shape their education and give them the future they deserve.
Keisha Peterkin Cooper
As a flight attendant responsible for the seating, comfort and support in case of emergency, Keisha Peterkin Cooper brings the professionalism and care for others to the presidency of the Parent Teacher Organization. She has a daughter is in 3rd grade and has served as Room Parent, Vice President of the Parent Teacher Organization and Co-Room Parent in 2nd Grade last year. Currently serving as President of the Parent Teacher Organization and Co-Room Parent, she is dedicated to creating a community and environment for all our children to be successful.
Brandy Noyes
My name is Brandy Noyes, I am a life-long Brevard resident and mother of 4 amazing children. Two of which attend Manatee as a 4th grader and a 3rd grader. I was a financial auditor for over 5 years before deciding to become a full time mom. Since joining the Manatee community 3 years ago, I have had the opportunity to volunteer for multiple teachers at our wonderful school. I have had the chance to work closely with a few of them, helping me to gain insight from their prospective. I look forward to making a mutually beneficial contribution to the Advisory Council with both teachers and parents in mind.
Please click on the link below, fill out the form completely and vote for two of the three candidates listed. Thank you for your participation!
Odyssey of the Mind at Manatee
What is Odyssey of the Mind? Odyssey of the Mind helps children learn creative problem-solving skills while having fun! It teaches them to “think outside the box” while fostering team-building among participants. Students learn how to identify challenges and develop creative solutions.
How does it work? Millions of students from kindergarten through college form teams. Under the guidance of coaches, teams spend several months working cooperatively to develop a solution to one of five long-term problems. Problems cover a variety of areas from building mechanical devices to giving an artistic or performance-based interpretation of literary classics. Initially, teams will meet weekly, but often meet two or more times per week just prior to the competition. Meeting days are determined by the individual coach and are based on his/her availability while taking into consideration of student schedules as much as possible. Teams may meet after school on campus, at the coach’s or other team member’s home.
How does can we get involved? OM teams at Manatee have a history of success with many advancing to the State Finals at UCF. BEFORE you apply, make sure your student will be available for the competition dates listed below. Your student may pick up the interest form in the front office or download it from the school website. Then return the completed form (to Mrs. Schenck) no later than 3pm on September 20th.
We are also looking for parent volunteer coaches – NO experience necessary! Training and guidance will be available. Student space is limited to the number of teams we can field based upon the number of coaches. Students will be notified of team placement as soon as possible. Feel free to contact Mrs. Schenck at schenck.sharmaine@brevardschools.org for further information.
