On-Demand Writing Assessment - Optional

The writing assessments are not on the district assessment calendar and are not required. However, many sites on their own, or at the advisement of their Network Superintendent, have chosen to do them and report their scores using Illuminate. Whether or not they are recorded or submitted, pre and post unit Writing Assessments are essential for guiding instruction and monitoring progress of students' writing abilities.

NEW! Comprehensive Student Data Roster for Fall Marking Period 2

The Comprehensive Student Data Roster is a student-level Excel spreadsheet containing as many as 100 data points for each pupil. You must be signed into your OUSD.org Gmail Account to access the "Protected Student Level Data" folder.

Dear Teachers,


As we embark in this new assessment cycle, you are required to use the following document to document your students' EDL/DRA scores, please click on this link to take you to the document. More information will be provided on 1/6/16 PD.

Running Records & Student Progress Monitoring - Memo

For January Testing window:

  • 10 thorough DRA/EDL per class

    • Students should be below grade level in their first language, or more than 1 year behind in their second language.

    • Fill out the class profile for these 20 students

  • For the rest of the class, you can find their reading level in one of these two ways:

    • DRA/EDL

    • A running record on an unknown book that you will use in your reading groups.

      • If you already did this in preparation for conferences, you can use the scores that you got at that time.

  • Release Days

    • Each teacher will be provided 1 full release day to complete testing.

    • Some testing will need to be completed during class time.

  • Deliverables by January 22nd

    • A list of current reading levels for all students in both classes

    • A class profile spreadsheet including:

      • 10 students from each class

      • physical copies of the forms used for testing

      • paper or online versions acceptable

Setting NEW reading goals with our young scholars!

Dear Colleagues,


As per our agreements & data chats, all classroom/individual student reading goals need to be set & visibly posted in the classroom. Please work with Emily if you needed additional support to ensure that you are holding meaningful conversations with your students about their new individual reading goals.


New Class Reading Goals & New Individual Student Goals need to be visible in the classroom by Monday, February 1st. ALL students must know their new reading level & know their own independent reading goal.


Please make time during Friday, January 29th afternoon planning to finish this deliverable. Emily, Morelia, and Beatrice will be available to collaborate, plan, and support you.

Restroom & Hallway Passes

Have your passes gone missing? Do you need a replacement? Please provide your needs to Ms. Alicia Marshall.

TK-1st grade - Have restroom/hallway buddies

2-5 - 1 restroom/hallway pass = 1 student (No exceptions)


Reminder:

We have new restrooms next to P7. Please ensure that your students go to those restrooms, especially if these restrooms cuts down on the distance.

Field Trip Monies

Attention Grade Leads,


Please communicate to Nancy by no later than January 28th if you will be using the full amount of the allocations for field trip. If by this date you have not informed her, we will be moving these monies to other school related needs.

  5. Schedules post-observation conference with Prob 1 & Prob 2
  6. Prob 1 & Prob 2 - reflect in Post-conference
  7. ALL tenure teachers - post conference is optional
  8. Will post sub-release peer observation for sign ups

February

  1. Teachers observe peer teacher (on/off-site)
  2. Teachers meet to debrief and provide feedback on SMARTe goal focus
  3. Teacher extra pay time is provided to hold peer debrief after contract time
