Clarification on this important measure from the Report Card
I feel that I did not do an adequate job explaining this measure at the staff meeting. So here it goes again...
This measure is essential because it should focus our practices to move students from "not on track" to "on track," especially during PIE time in core. We want to do everything in our power to ensure that our learners have the skills and strategies to perform at the proficient levels in the third and fourth grades. We can do this!
We receive credit for a student who was "not on track" on the initial fall benchmark but improved to "on track" on the next year's fall benchmark.
This measure only includes the percentage of students who were identified initially as "not on track" using the fall benchmark in KG-Grade 3 and received a RIMP. For example, if 40 out of 100 Kindergarten studnets were identified as "not on track" on the fall benchmark, then the percentage is calculated based on how many of those 40 students improved to be "on track" by the fall of their first-grade year.
Overall Grade C
40% of our students moved to "on-track" status and 60% remained "not on track" so we earned a C.
The measure also considers students who are not on a RIMP and do not reach proficient (score of 700) on the third grade ELA OST. The calculation decreases the overall improvement percentage by one student for each student who has never been on or who was removed from a RIMP and does not meet the proficiency standard.
This is why we use our professional judgment and multiple measures to provide a student a RIMP even if they were deemed "on-track" in the fall benchmark.
RIMPs
Our RIMP Data
This graphic depicts the percentage of students that were deemed “not on track” on the initial fall benchmark for that “Year”.
Year 1 reflects the growth or improvement students made in KG during the 2017-18 school year.
Year 2 reflects the growth or improvement students made in grade 1during the 2017-18 school year.
Year 3 reflects the growth or improvement students made in grade 2 during the 2017-18 school year.
Year 4 reflects the growth or improvement students made in grade 3 during the 2017-18 school year.
Credit is given for third-grade students who were not on track on the fall third grade diagnostic but who score at least proficient on the third grade OST either in the fall (December) or spring administrations.
