21st Century Cyber Charter School Newsletter: October 2020

Notes From Our Principals
Hello, and ‘Happy Fall’ to all of our students and parents of 21st Century Cyber Charter School!
We want to extend a big ‘Thank you' to everyone who has stuck with us throughout the bumps as we began the 2020-2021 school year. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding. We’d also like to continue to extend a warm welcome to all of our new students and families joining us for the first time.
While we are looking forward to returning to having events in person, for now, we will continue to plan virtual events for our students to enjoy. Keep an eye out for upcoming events.
To continue to begin 2020-2021 with your best foot forward, here are a few recommendations to help you be successful:
- Know your cheerleaders - your academic advisor is here to help you! If you have any questions or concerns, they’re your first point of contact. Utilize them to build a strong relationship with your academic potential.
- Know your class times & schedules - Attend your live labs! We encourage our students to attend their live labs each week.
- Turn your classmates into friends - say ‘hello’ to a new student in each live lab that you haven’t talked to before. Everyone wants to have friends and building relationships will help make school a positive experience.
It is hard to believe we are now at the halfway point of Quarter 1. Please work with your academic advisor to ensure you’re on track to reach your goals by the end of the quarter. Remember, Quarter 1 ends on November 2nd at 3:30 pm.
We look forward to “seeing” you in the virtual offices.
Counselor's Corner
Happy October Everyone!
We hope that you are settling into the 2020-2021 school year! It certainly is a year like no other and we are excited to have you all with us at 21st Century Cyber Charter School! So far, this year has brought up a lot of changes in our personal and academic lives.
We want to ensure that you feel supported by your school counselors during this time. You can contact us at Guidance@21CCCS.org or visit us in the Guidance & Health Virtual Office Monday - Friday 7:30am - 3:30pm.
If you are feeling like you need a quick “brain break”, try these different activities -
4 Square Breathing (Breathe in for 4 seconds, Hold for 4 seconds, Release for 4 seconds. Hold for 4 seconds… all while mimicking the motions of tracing a square)
Ask yourself “What has happened that is positive from these changes?” Train your brain to produce positive thoughts from every situation!
Write down 3 things/people that you are grateful for! Research shows that the more gratitude we show, the happier and healthier our brains are!
Rely on/reach out to those closest to you (Even those of us at school!!) We all have your back!
We are excited to work with you to help make this your best year yet! Please join us at some upcoming events:

iPad
Your iPad is a great second screen to supplement your MacBook! You can efficiently work in different apps on each device to complete your schoolwork. As you get more comfortable with using your iPad, here are a few suggestions.
- Make sure that you've logged into the Gmail app with your school email. You can even set up your notifications to make sure you don't miss an email from your teacher!
- If you'd like to access Moodle on your iPad, you can use either the Safari or Chrome app. Simply type in school.21cccs.org to access the Moodle page and your courses.
- You can log into a VO or Live Lab session on your iPad (you can find the links in Moodle). Please be aware that you cannot open another app and remain in the Jigsaw session; this is a great scenario to use both your iPad and MacBook to log into a Jigsaw session and access other apps.
The best way to learn is to explore so check out what all your iPad can do!
Summer Reading Contest

Community Feedback Forum
The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, Brian Cote, will be holding a monthly 21CCCS Community Feedback Forum for both parents and students. This will be an opportunity to learn about the process of the school’s curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Parents and students are encouraged to share information on things that have been going well for our school, as well as ideas/suggestions to move our school forward. This forum will not be a question/answer session. If parents or students have questions during the forum, our staff will work to respond to those questions in our monthly Flex Gazette.
